What do you think keeps them coming back?

There's a specific one I've recently seen come up in (as far as I can tell) what must be at least his sixth iteration by now. What would someone to come back that many times after being banned?

Another thing is, the ones that do, never really seem to change their style or focuses (though doubtless we wouldn't noticed them if they did do that).

You can't teach an old dog new tricks. I've seen some get banned for truly abusive behavior towards other posters only for them to return a few days later under a different pseudonym and to continue their attacking rants. It's like there's a mental health epidemic here with some posters. They've lost all civility to have discussions with others even if they don't agree on points.

I've also seen moderators delete posts and threads in a mismatched fashion without adhering to common rules across the board (meaning: some mods will step in and act, others will leave posters to openly bash each other, there's no clear guideline or rule that's being followed. Some threads continue on for pages while others disappear all of a sudden. Rules are not clearly explained or outlined for all members to follow.)

The third problem I've seen here is reverse trolling - particularly among social justice warriors on this site - one posts something, someone else comments, then the first one gets all his or her friends on this site to like their post and one after the other bash the commenter in the most uncivilized attack you've ever seen. It's never an attack on the idea, it's always drops to personal attacks and bashing in a pure bullying fashion / gang mentality.

What keeps them coming back is their self-hate and lack of anything better to do because they aren't intelligent enough to find anything to do with their time other than bring everyone down to their level.

They either don't like themselves at all and want everyone else to feel like they do, or they're complete narcissists. They simply think it's fun to piss people off.

They need help.

1. Are you trying to use SJW as an insult? If so, it doesn't really land. Being against social justice kinda makes You the butt of the insult.

2. I don't think anyone here tells their friends "go like my posts in this thread, let's gang up on this troll!" It's just a matter of people calling out bad behavior in a confrontational fashion. Sometimes that can be a problem, I myself have been guilty if taking it too far, but I can admit and own it.

I think people just like posts that they enjoy or agree with. I don't think it's a conspired event.

Just to confirm, you're complaining about other people ganging up on you, and yet you use a term that you consider to be an insult (the tired SJW taunt). That seems to be pretty ironic. Though personally, I don't consider "social justice warrior" to be an insult, it's a good example of a back handed insult that is accidentally complimentary. We all live in a society and justice is a good thing.

I think some people just feed on conflict. They enjoy the sense of “power” they feel in getting a rise out of people on the internet. If they find a ripe feeding ground, they can’t help themselves - they just have to keep coming back to feed, thinking that they’re so “powerful” that they can get people riled. Every ban is just proof they are on the right track. So they need to come back - feed again, up the ante. Trick the mods, drag it on, make it a game. Take “power”.

It’s kind of a false power, though. Sometimes I see people here get truly off the rails in response to those trolls, but mostly it’s just giving them enough food to lead to another ban. (It’s a little bit entertaining.)

I think these trolls lack power and control somewhere in their real life. If you feel in control of your life, you really don’t care where things end up on the internet. State your case and walk away, for the most part. Have a discussion. But trolling? It’s for losers in life.

Let me explain to you why you are wrong in your post.
1. First, you choose to infer meanings to my post which don't exist. That's the biggest flaw in what you have written.
2. I am complaining about what I have seen in the last year happening on this site from some trolls towards other members. This is not about me, this is not a selfish post.
3. Social justice warrior is a commonly used term nowadays to describe a type of person rallying against certain perceived injustices in the world. If you choose to think it was used as an insult, that's on you. And clearly that's what you chose to believe.

I agree with what @LaFemme wrote - trolls love conflict, love to pick out certain words from people's posts and love to pick fights. The irony of what she wrote is that it's projection.

.

SJW is a term created by people who are terrified of society becoming more equal, because they see equality as oppression. I am often labeled as a social justice warrior when I'm simply calling for equal rights of any kind. It's not a "perceived injustice", but the narrative is driven that way by entitled people who don't want to share their privilege.

Using it as an insult is feeding into their bullshit.
