Has anyone had the Rezum vapor treatment for enlarged prostate? Curious about outcome, discomfort of the procedure, recovery, etc. before discussing with urologist. It looks like it might be a good non-surgical option. As a bit of info for those unfamiliar, as I understand it, the doctor uses steam to heat and kill parts of the prostate resulting in less constriction, therefore better flow and control. I can think of things I'd rather do than have hot steam shot into my body apparently through the urethra, but they say it's not terrible.

I’ve had it with very good results. The steam is very controlled, which makes this procedure successful. I was not able to have the TURP surgery due to varicose veins in area. I had been on medication for 3 years and needed help.
The day of the procedure you have an enema, then they give a local in the prostate. Based on the size of the prostate is how many steam “ball” injections you have.
I went back in 4 days for a checkup, and in about 3-4 weeks all the urgency, accidents, weak stream were history. I would just have this done by a Urologist that does it often, and has done it many times.

Thanks for the info. How long did you need a catheter or did you? I want to avoid surgery if possible but is love to get past the after-piss drip I have now.

I am 60, and had Rezum performed by an experienced urologist , Jan 2019. I had been on meds for about 5 years... The meds really affected sexual performance, negatively. I had urgency, frequency, and was up 3-4 times per night. I chose Rezum as opposed to Urolift. I felt there was more information out there about Rezum that was positive, and I was worried about the pain with Urolift. My doctor gave me Valium by mouth. The prostate injection was barely noticeable. The procedure was very tolerable. He said leave the catheter in AT LEAST 4 days. I removed it on post op day 4. The next day I had trouble emptying my bladder. On day 6, I could barely squeeze a few drops out and was miserable. I called the doctor, he said go to the ER, and get the catheter put back in... for 3 more days. I didn’t want to...took 800 mg of ibuprofen , and a hot bath for an hour. Got out, and could pee about 15 ml. Took a couple more baths later that night, and things got better, but was still uncomfortable. Went back to work the next day... it was too soon, but I toughed it out. Bloody urine gradually improved but lasted 3 weeks. At one month, I really felt good.... good control, good stream, urgency and frequency much better. But then became very frustrated sexually.... orgasm quality less, no ejaculation. He said it was retrograde. He said give it time. At over 6 months now, if I cum, maybe one small dribble comes out. I am starting to have more frequency. I started Saw Palmetto... and symptoms are better, but it can affect ejaculate. In hindsight, my recovery has not been easy. Everyone is different. I wish I had researched Urolift more. Just my 2 cents.
