He is a Stanford grad. Apparently he is very intelligent and has written some interesting pieces. He sure didn't sound like that after the game though.

Along with his brother Robert he's written some great pieces.

These guys go to top tier schools based on their sports ability...not brains.

Not exactly. Here are a few facts about this guy:

He finished second in his high school class with 4.1 GPA.

He has a 'near-photographic memory,' according to SI.

He grew up in Compton, and was the first Dominguez High School grad in 20 years to get a scholarship from Stanford.

In high school, he made USC coach Pete Carroll wait 2.5 hours to meet with him because he didn't want to leave class early.

He may have said something he shouldn't have after Sunday's game, but the guy is by no stretch your average Joe in any way shape or form.

No he didn't.

1) Appearances can be deceiving.
2) The majority of people do not have one dimensional personalities.
3) We all make mistakes; they do not define us.

And why is that exactly?

1- I love Mary Poppins.
2- Richard Sherman the composer is not known to be an asshole.

Thanks for the explanation.

1. Me too, but this thread, as its title clearly states, is about a real life football player, not a fictional character.
2. Again, this thread, is about a real life football player, not a composer.

It appears, then, that your comments are intentionally off topic - shared name or not.

Many people view off-topic and/or inflammatory comments to be "troll behavior." That does not mean the poster is a "troll" or intends to be "trolling." Or does it?

Mikey was making a joke seeing how these two very different men have the exact same first and last names. And if you hadn't continued with the questions, everyone else might have enjoyed the humor a bit more.

Clearly you are the one who didn't get it.

But by further berating that point, you maybe didn't mean to be a "troll" or didn't intend to be "trolling." Or did you?

Thank you for sharing your point of view and attempting to clarify the referenced post.

You are quite correct in that I did not get the joke. It was originally not indicated that is was a joke. A previous poster to "M" also acknowledged the same composer/shared-named aspect and indicated that he was being humorous. I got that and enjoyed it.

I did not assume anything with "M's" post; hence the inquiry. A simple "I like Mary Poppins and was just joking" would have sufficed. HIS response took it to a another level.

To review:
M: "I prefer to think of this when I think Richard Sherman. Richard M. Sherman - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia"
Q: "Why...."
M: ".....2- Richard Sherman the composer is not known to be an asshole."

That last comment, for me, showed no hint of being a joke or humorous, nor was it warranted if he was only joking. Furthermore, "you" have said it was a joke, "M" has yet to declare his true intent. However, the second post's reasoning seemed to me to confirm that the first post was a taunt and not a joke. That was the why I referenced the "troll/trolling" definition. Had he not been so cavalier with my sincere inquiry we would not be at this point. Or perhaps it was not a joke after all.

If my comments have been offensive to you, "M", or anyone else I apologize. After reading that, unintentional comments may also be considered trolling, it did cross my mind that my own comments could be interpreted as such. I chose to make this a teachable moment for readers, including myself. So, I am not offended by your turning the troll question on me, as I already got it on my own. But your intent, if not your sentiment, is well taken.

That all being said, the ensuing discussions/interviews with Richard Sherman since the initial post game interview have shown him to be contrite, reflective, with a very calm demeanor. Hardly deserving the character assassination he has received. (Refer to post #10.)

So, in an effort to end the troll/trolling discussion(s) behavior/comments/whatever and getting back on point, as this is the Celebrity Endowments forum: He looks really ripped in uniform, and showing some very nice VPL!...

My reference to Mr. Sherman the composer was a joke, which I did not think would need to be explained. The juxtaposition of the persona of the man who co-wrote wondrous and child-friendly songs with the demonstated irrational and almost hysterically angry post-game words of Mr. Sherman the football player caused me to laugh and appreciate the difference between the 2 men. I do throw out the occasional sarcastic post, although I hardly think that makes me a troll because a) such posts are not most of my posts, and b) I try to keep the sarcasm a direct reflection of the person or topic being discussed. For instance, this being a thread about Richard Sherman of the Seattle Seahawks, a post serving as a counterpoint about Mr. Sherman's behavior (as soon in contrast to another public figure with a wholly more positive image) would in fact be an on-topic reference. I also happen to love musicals, including Mary Poppins. So if one neither gets nor appreciates my sarcasm, I suggest that you either Feed the Birds or Go Fly a Kite.

I would Feed the Birds or Go Fly A Kite with Richard Sherman the football player anytime. He seems like he would be a very interesting person to get to know on so many levels.

May I offer you A Spoonful of Sugar by the way.
