This opera is always worth seeing/hearing. A major tearjerker for anyone who feels past his or her prime.

Refreshing to find this on here, Hung. I have been considering going if I can afford it and find the time. Thanks for reminding me! ;)

I have gotten off more than once on the Waltz Sequences.
Next to Tchaikowsky, Richard wrote some veddy veddy sexual music.
I do hope this thread survives. Strauss is far more fascinating than penis lore.

Fleming and Graham on the same stage?!

What more can you ask for?

(and Thomas Allen is also a favorite of mine).

In Northern Lower Michigan, The Metropolitan Opera Production of Richard Strauss' Opera "Der Rosenkavalier" can be seen at the State Theater in Traverse City. Tickets are stand-by only at this time. The Met is always a sell-out at the State.

We can thank local citizen Michael Moore for restoring the State Theater to to be one of the finest theaters in the US. The sound system is fantastic. The electronic projectors show a flawless picture including the satelite recption from the Met. The Theater is also the headquarters of the Traverse City Film Festival which has developed into one of the major film festivals in the United States. Michael knows how to get things done besides writing controversial books.
