I don't find him in the slightest bit amusing, never have...

Totally agree, I've never seen him as original nor funny, Stephen Merchant was the brains behind The Office.

I watched him die live on stage at Wembly arena's Concert for Diana were he had fifteen minutes of unanticipated time to fill whilst waiting for Elton to take the stage. He was unable to conjure up a single joke and the audience-wide cringe factor was palatable, any other comic would have had a hard on at the prospect of fifteen minutes in front of an international audience televised live around the planet. He tanked and resorted to that puerile 'Office dance' - moronic. One trick pony and the barn door closed.

As for the Golden Globes he was the equivalent of why I read so few blog responses these days - people feel free to say (and write) what a few years go would have been deemed uncivil - he's mean and mean spirited.

He wasn't funny and just came across mindlessly mean. Half the insults he dished out didn't even make sense.

My opinion of him dropped dramatically after seeing it.

And this is after seeing that terrible cartoon show he's on which is also not funny in the slightest.

Fifteen years ago he used to sit in on the afternoon radio show on London's XFM radio station, alongside ex-BBC Radio 1 DJ Clare Sturgess. He was an absolute star - spontaneous, irreverent, hysterical, unpredictable but always sharp. Then he hit UK television on Channel 4's "Eleven O'Clock Show" and, in terms of his comedy routines, it's been downhill all the way ever since. "The Office" and, particularly, "Extras" (which I preferred) are an exception to my general view.

He was getting very safe, predictable and corporate (and bloated). I wouldn't watch back-slapping, media-whore events like the awards ceremonies myself but I have seen a lot of the out-takes of Gervais' comments and, to my mind, the barbs and digs were all well-deserved and he was much funnier than I've seen him in years, so the response was disappointing. Then again, you would really expect self-important, tw*ts of limited (and pointless) talent, such as Downey, Depp and co, to really appreciate the humour. If you can't behave in public, get arrested and end up in the drunk tank then you deserve everything you get, in my opinion.

I really hope that he has upset those pompous pricks and deflated their overblown egos. He couldn't care less what it does for his own career.

For the first time in many. many years I stand up and salute you, Ricky Gervais. Well done!

He's WAY OUT of his depth in America. He's actually becoming more and more like David Brent (The Office) the word that comes to mind is CRINGEWORTHY.His delivery is awkward and self concious.Sorry but he's a one trick pony and that programme finished years ago!!

americans need to get a sense of humor. It was great seeing these egocentric cunts roasted like this.

At one point of the broadcast the missus says, "What happened to Ricky?" to which I respond, "Oh yeah...him." I guess the overly long acceptance speeches must've impinged on his time.

Just as well. Never could understand why these award shows put limits on acceptance speeches only to fill the extra time with some silly shtick.

Love him. Thought he was great. R. Downey looked like a douche trying to make a comeback. The humor is that he was saying true shit about these people that think they are so amazing. Depp did the right thing...just laugh it off. They hire RG and are surprised? This humor is exactly him. It is a compliment to get a joke made of you on this level. If you don't have a high profile it doesn't work. These actors should only be worried when they are forgotten.
