"Extending unemployment benefits will add $34 billion to $1.56 trillion deficit. If you do the math, you will find this is a negligible impact. In addition, unemployment benefits provide the simplest and most effective form of stimulus as people who receive these checks spend their money buying food and paying bills. According to the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) unemployment benefits offer the biggest bang for the buck of any government policy designed to jump-start economic growth — anywhere from 70 cents to $1.90 for every $1 spent on benefits. Moody's Analytics predicts a similar figure."

Our problem is not the extension of Unemployment benefits in the ways that many think. The reason that the GOP is fighting against these so hard is they know that there will be no new jobs in the United States. There will be new jobs in India, there will be new jobs in China, there will be new jobs in Singapore, there will be new jobs in every third world Country taking away American jobs permanently.

Many Corporations have already turned the corner and are beginning to show profits, one claiming a complete turn around is General Motors. GM is right now planning on building Cadillacs in China. No American jobs, more broken promises, American workers remain unemployed. GM bought Saab of Sweden and drove them into bankruptcy. GM bought AM General and drove that into bankruptcy, GM has so far in the past few years folded Oldsmobile, Pontiac, and Saturn. They in fact did pay back loans, and the minute the loans were paid back the "old thinking" returned.

Most Corporations now heading into black ink have no plans for "new hires" and this is a fact.

If the GOP had any balls they would stand up for the American people.

Simple solutions: Tax incentives to bring jobs back to the United States in Manufacturing. Tax penalties to all Corporations who export jobs and tax penalties on foreign made goods assembled outside the United States.

Example: Make a Chevrolet Pickup in Detroit no tax penalty, make a Chevy pickup in Mexico for the U.S. Market and GM pays a tax on every vehicle sold here. Make a Dodge Pickup in the USA and no tax penalty, make a Dodge Pickup in Mexico (they are all built there) and Chrysler pays a tax on each truck sold here.

Tax incentives: Make a Honda Accord in Marysville, Ohio and Honda gets a credit on that car. If they build the car in Japan it gets a penalty. Build a Toyota in San Jose and get a credit, build it in Japan and pay a tax.

This is what foreign governments have done to the United States to create unfair market advantage in their home markets for many decades. They are a whole lot smarter than we are.

The political party in fact is not the problem. Both the GOP and the Democratic party are in some ways guilty of ignoring these facts and sweeping the basis for economic decay of the United States under the rug.

Where the GOP really failed was in not only allowing but supporting the erosion of many of the laws placed in after the 1929 crash. If those laws had been left alone this current economic situation would not exist.

Yet, it was not the GOP alone. It took Democrats as well to ignore the Corporate and financial greed which has bankrupted most Americans.

Those who want to place the GOP back in......Go Ahead! In time your college education will have you working for $7 an hour because your education will make you "too expensive". Why should a Corporation hire you when they can place those jobs overseas and get your Education level for nearly nothing!

I actually hope that the GOP is successful in at least delaying the reinstatement of benefits. As people have no money because of the GOP and no jobs either they are not going to turn on the Democrats. The GOP has potential here to commit political suicide and nothing would make me happier.

If I am really lucky their next ticket will be Jeb Bush and Sarah Palin. Their new motto. "More of the Same"

This wasn't just caused by corporate greed, lets not forget Fannie&Freddie creating the 0 down, 0 interest home loans that went to millions of people who could never pay back!! Love those gov't programs.

And why couldn't many of these people pay back the loans? Did people just skip paying them and went on vacation, or were loans created in a predatory nature in an attempt to squeeze out every penny a person had or could make? Did they wake up one day and said, "Screw my house. I need a Mercedes-Benz" or did they have to make a hard decision to either feed their families or provide them shelter after losing their job?

Housing... another necessity that has been abused & manipulated, this time by banks and realtors, for nothing more than greed.

It is easy to buy this because both parties have covered up or "ignored" some very major facts when it came to these loans. If the argument of "sub prime" was actually the cause the main losses of homes would have happened to homes purchased and financed between 2000 and 2008. This was not the case at all. Many losing their homes have been in those properties for more than twenty years. At the time that those loans were written the laws were in fact far more stringent. In order to purchase homes at all in the markets most impacted by the current economic situation people were forced to purchase in the deeper suburbs and then commute to work. Some individuals in order to qualify and get a lower priced home had to move 50-70 miles away from a major employment center. Even now with Real Estate in the dumps there are sixty year old 750 square foot 2 bedroom single bath homes in Los Angeles selling for $500,000 or more. Apartment rents in the areas had escalated to where a 2 bedroom apartment in the same area was over $1,700 per month.

The breaker was NOT the loans in and of themselves. When energy costs went off the scale, and fuel exceeded $5.00 per gallon in some areas people started then being forced to live off credit cards hoping that somebody would notice that the economy would implode. Under a certain incompetent administration references were made to this and the solution was of corse to give big banks the ability to become "loan sharks" and raise interest rates to 31% in many cases if a single payment were late. In addition, to grab on to that bandwagon if you were late with a payment to bank "A", and bank "B" found out about it they popped the interest rate too. People were no longer able to make the home loan payment because now the credit card people were yapping at their rear ends.

There is a great deal that can be done and the bail outs were "supposed" to benefit the Amerian people. As we all know the loans benefitted a bunch of executives with incredible packages.

Sorry, there is a great deal more to this one than meets the eye. Who in reality is going to place the blame where it belongs when they can instead blame the American people who right now are the least able to fight back! The ONLY weapon that the American people have any more is the ballot box and they did the first part when they sent a clear message for change. What they got was a chance that has been stifled and derailed by every lunatic ultra right winger that wanted to ride the Republican "gravy train" for the "ultra rich".

I once worked with a guy who was a Bible thumper on every issue.
One day he had a group of co-workers literally trapped in the breakroom as he was praising The Bush Regime for invading Iraq.
This guy had moved from California back to Arkansas. He tried to hide it behind wanting to get away from "those" people, back to northwest Arkansas where he would only have to be around white heterosexuals.
Well the truth was that he had married a much younger woman, had a baby and had gone broke. He came back to Arkansas to live with his mother. His explanation was that his mother had forced the relocation out of concern for her grandchild.
He was very xenophobic. The employs at this place are almost totally comprised of white people. Most were poorly educated and in the grips of Pentecostals and other kookie, dangerous cults. Needless to say, he had found a group who would "Amen" all of his proclamations.
We are working for one of the world's largest corporations (not Wal-Mart).
The corporation is actually one of the more progressive companies in the US. The conversations that the local management allowed were grounds for immediate termination! No ifs, ands or buts about. Offenders were gone! The only other two offenses that would be punished as fast are theft and safety violations.
We all know that the atmosphere and daily life at any place is set by the management at the disctrict and local levels. When they harbor the same opinions they simply ignore the complaints about the violations. Then they "circle the wagons" and find ways to get rid of the trouble maker instead of the rule violaters.
Back to my point. Sorry, it takes a couple of minutes to get there!
One day I was griping about the Bush/Cheney Regime and said I was really tired of them trying to convince everyone that they were acting on God's instructions.
The guy then asked if I was aware of the Constitution. I replied that I had not read it since the Bush/Cheney Regime was selected (not elected) to rule but I still thought I was aware of most of it. I then conceded that we apparently weren't using it anymore so it wasn't actually of much use.
Since he was in a corner and couldn't find me the Bible verses to support his claim(s) he said "well, a president's first responsibility is to protect the American people.
I asked if wouldn't agree that the Bush/Cheney Regime were horrible failures at doing so? Perhaps impeachment proceedings should commence.

I said to the crowd "there you have it folks. According to this guy the constitution trumps the Bible!!!!!!!!!!!
He went to mgmt to whine and cry (just like Georgie Boy) but when they conducted their "investigation" the witnesses actually supported me and not him. I was stunned. I thought it would go the other way!
