Burns' day has just passed so the Scottish bard - most people will know him as the author of "A Red, Red Rose" - has become topical recently. And there's some interesting things to learn about him, besides his poetry. Apparently he had a rampant sex drive and was very fond of his manly endowment, which he called, affectionately, his "sonsie pittle". He's also the creator of a bawdy drinking song called "Nine Inch Will Please a Lady". And his sexual and religious interests converged in the ballad, "The Holy Willy". Read more about him here:

Lack of pictures? The mass-market camera was invented in around 1900; Burns died in 1796. Does this sufficiently explain the omission?

Thank you for posting that commendable piece.

Of course "the pendulum that really keeps his legacy ticking" is not so much his gloriously famous big dick, but is rather, more largely, his great intelligence, his grand spirit, and above all his immense imagination, all magnificent attributes most sorely missed in today's visually-satiated post-enlightenment world.

I think maybe he (ElDorado) meant the lack of pictures of Burns's supposed nine-inch dick.

Hmm. . . . Claims nine inches and has no picture: yes, he could definitely be a member of this site.

Blasphemy!!!
You mean he couldn't keep himself hard long enough for someone to draw it on canvas? I mean, if they could do it for the Mona Lisa... :biggrin1:

if you google him there are paintings of him and he was a pretty rascal, so if he had a 9'' dick so much the better.

ROBBIE?
Pardon my defending national pride, but living less than half an hour from where he lived, i can assure you it was Rabbie or Robert. Never Robbie.
To illuninate for the non-Scots amongst us, that is the same as calling William Shakespeare 'Billy'.

:biggrin1:
And for the Scot's, - tae see oor'sels as others see us...

was anyone questioning the omission? next time someone thanks you for something, you should learn to just nod and say you're welcome.
