The trial has become of Vancouver pig-farmer and multi-millionaire, Robert Pickton who allegedly murdered 69 women in Canada in the mid 1990s.
Police incompetence is implied ; the victims were largely hookers .

I believe that I referenced that pig a few years back when he was caught. I had also blasted the police for their lack of attention because of who the women were and where they came from. The same thing happens in every major city- crack addicted prostitutes go missing and the police just scratch their heads and pay it some lip service until it fades from the news. Edmonton had 5 women disappear more recently- the police “were concerned.”

I recognize that it is far more difficult to search for a missing prostitute than a socialite, but that should mean that more resources are put into it, instead we comment on what we, as a society think of their worth and spend the least that we can get away with on each case.

It's quite possible that the police and authorities paid less attention to these missing persons, who by their nature or occupation might have been judged unworthy of attention. There are probably racists, moralists, and the jaded who having seen so many lives wasted in a cycle of despair and drug dependency that could not give a damn any more, working in the system and letting those victims down. Many of the dead women were native Indian.

To be fair, the murders were difficult to investigate with no apparent bodies to be found. The information that has been released suggests, in a grisly way, that after their deaths the victims bodies were probably dismembered and fed to the pigs, leaving no apparent evidence. The investigation eventually resorted to sifting through the soil on the property to obtain tooth fragments and bones and a few items of a documentary/dna nature that could identify the women.

The suggestion has been made in the media that is that biker parties were supposedly held at the farm. Were the girls procured for sex parties or for something more illegal?

The body count is suppost to be at 49, but they have no prove.
He's on trial for 6 murders.

Unfortunately , serial killers of his ilk tend to prey on Prostitutes beacause
no one reports them missing, and if they do, the police just think they moved
on to greener pastures. Or, as usualy is the case, the police really don't care.
Just look at the Green river killings in washington, or the more recent
arrest in Edmonton. Prostitutes have been disapearing for over 15 years
in and around Edmonton, but no one on the police force thought to try
a link them together. You'd think by now that the Police would know better.

Gays are a large victim group too !
The disenfranchised, hustlers, petty criminals, trannies, etc.
John Wayne Gacy and many others readily capitolised in society's inertia for the "missing".
    Somebody's son, somebody's father ....
