Waiting For A Star To Fall from Boy Meets Girl - I am a bit of cynic when it comes to love songs in general, but I love this one everytime I hear it.

Love Me Like The World Is Ending - Ben Lee is not my usual taste, but I like this song as its upbeat and catchy and has pretty simple but interesting lyrics.

Your Body Is A Wonderland by John Mayer - love the guitar work in this and the whole story the song tells in general. Who wouldnt want to be locked up in a hotel room all day with the one they love or lust after :biggrin1:

I'm young but I like the classics.

2 of my favorites:

"For the Love of You" by The Isley Brothers...Soon as I hear the intro my mind eases and I'm just somewhere else.

"Cry Together" by The O'Jays...So much love in this song, plus I love their voices together.

I'm a romantic...yup.

She Will Be Loved - Maroon 5.
Won't Go Home Without You - Maroon 5
Back At Your Door - Maroon 5.

they're wonderfully romantic. i have tons more, but Maroon 5 was the first thing that came to mind. and then there is,

Come What May - Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor.

you probably have to watch the movie to feel the power of the song and McGregor's sweet and pure vocals.

For some reason I think jack johnson's music is pretty damn romantic, along with "The John Butler Trio".

The Best Example EVER!!! YouTube - Jack Johnson - Girl I Wanna Lay You Down

"I come over, early in the mornin', i'm like a heatwave without warning. When I touch you, I can feel your heart flutter. I'm smooth and creamy, like peanut-butter. Girl I wanna lay you down..."

"This Time I'll Be Sweeter" - Angela Bofill
An almost-forgotten 80's R&B icon that recorded killer love ballads.

"It Might Be You" & "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" - Roberta Flack
Flack's interpretation and re-make of these songs far surpasses the original recordings.

"Have You Ever" - Brandy
I could not believe how this teen-pop love song grabbed my attention, but it did. Still does.

"I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" - Areosmith
A great love anthem for a guy.

This is interesting. My first thought was "My Lady of the Island" by Crosby Still and Nash. It IS extraordinarily beautiful but the fact that it is addressed to/about a woman kind of moves it away form my experience.

Being gay and very male identified men's songs about women don't connect very well. Similarly, neither do women's songs about men. This is an example of the exclusion of gay people from our culture and, I suspect, a significant source of confusion for gay youth. Hearing these songs as a teenager, and not feeling much, led me to the concusion that I was incapable of romantic love.

Recently, I stumbled upon a video on u-tube of Ian Tyson, Silvia Fricker, and Judy Collins singing "Someday Soon," which Ian Tyson wrote. He sings the song without changing the pronouns. So here we have this big, handsome, masculine Canadian, country/folk male singer wearing a cowboy hat singing:

There's a young man that I know
His age is twenty-one
Comes from down in southern Colorado
Just out of service
And he's looking for his fun
Someday soon, going with him
Someday soon

Then Judy Colllins takes a verse followed by the chorus in which Ian Tyson goes on to sing:

And when he comes to call
My Pa don't have a good word to say
Maybe it's 'cause he was just as wild
In his early days
So blow you old blue norther
Blow my love to me
He's driving in tonight from California
He loves his damned old rodeo
As much as he loves me
Someday soon, going with him
Someday soon

This does it for me in a completely different way. The embedding has been disabled but if you search "someday soon ian" it should be the third video down, just in case anyone is interested.

You're the whisper of a
Summer breeze
You're the kiss that puts my
Soul at ease
What I'm saying is I'm
In to you
Here's my story, and the
Story goes
You give love, you get love
And more than
Heaven knows
You're gonna see
I'm gonna run, I'm gonna try
I'm gonna take this love
Right to ya
All my heart, all the joy
Oh baby, baby please

= chorus: =
Rush, rush
Hurry, hurry lover
Come to me
Rush, rush
I wanna see, I wanna see ya
Get free with me
Rush, rush
I can feel it, I can feel you
All through me
Rush, rush
Ooh what you do to me

And all I want from you is
What you are
And even if you're right
Next to me
You're still too far away
If I'm not inside your arms
I get dramatic baby
Yes I know
But I need you, I want you
Ooh man, I love you so
Ooh, ooh
You're gonna see
I'm gonna run, I'm gonna try
I'm gonna take this love
Right to ya
All my heart, all the joy
Oh baby, baby please

= chorus x 2 =

When you kiss me
Up and down
Turn my senses all around
Oh baby, oh baby
I don't know
Just how or why
But no one else
Has touched me
So deep, so deep
So deep inside

You're gonna see
I'm gonna run
I'm gonna try
I'm gonna take this love
Right to ya
All my heart, all the joy
Oh baby, baby please

When Love to Love you Baby by Donna Summer was released, it caused quite a stir. Some radio stations banned it, and others only played it late at night. It would be considered somewhat tame by today's standards. The full length version of the song is about 17 minutes long, which was unusual at the time.

The list of romantic songs I like would be far too large to post on a thread, I'm a soppy tart at heart :)

That's for sure. I love, love songs.
