yeah, there's always been. a list are the super popular known worldwide, always with hits coming out. they're mostly movie stars, but a lot of musicians also fit the category. b list are somewhat known, they still have decently sized fanbases, but they're not always making it big, they might've had one big role that made them famous and after that it was sorta just regular acting roles. c list are mainly the supporting cast type people, you might've seen them somewhere else before, but you don't really know where, you just remember their face. d list are those you probably don't even have a pic on their wiki/imdb, if they even have one and looking them up might show up a bunch of different people, because they share a name with other barely known celebs.
and then you have what's referred to z list, which are the bottom of the barrel. they're lucky if the 1 minute character they're playing even got a name
