I actually thought about this a few months ago. Used to be presidential elections elected the winner as president and the loser as VP. So you had the two most qualified participants from each side working together, with the one who commanded the most popularity among the citizenry/electoral college as the President.

I'd vote all day long for a Pres Obama VP Romney or vice versa ticket...ALL DAY LONG. We spend 4-8 years undoing each-other's fixes to social issues. Nothing would stun an electorate more than a qualified Presidential candidate picking a stonewall opponent from across the aisles who is just as qualified to be president...and then having the two work towards goals as leaders of their respective parties.

That *would* be cool: after winning a hard-fought, heated political contest, putting differences aside by appointing your opponent Vice President.

Or maybe, Secretary of State.

I've had plenty of convos with people about how much respect I have for Secretary Clinton. I realize the political benefit of having her in a cabinet post during this second election cycle, but more to the point she put everything behind her and went to bat for her boss in a big way.

She is literally one of the hardest working Secretary's of State in our Nation's history. I believe she beat Rumsfeld's record of State visits and miles logged.

Politics aside, I'd vote for her too because to be a good leader you first must be a good follower and always back-up your boss.
