so what?
they invest in a company that defenetly will grow in the future, just cause more and more voting machines will be used. - thats what they do...

How many people find this scenario surprising?

i hope not many... or america has a serious problem

Interesting article! Thank you for the link.

The author, and a number of the respondents on that site, seem to be implying since Romney owns the machines, that he *must* cheat...that it is inevitable. This is a logical leap that is unsupported by facts.

But, having said that, it is reasonable for voters to expect Romney to distance himself from this particular company, to avoid even the *appearance* of impropriety.

You welcome RNGR . I'm not even entirely sure if the article is true since I found the article on Current Friday night, so I guess we'll find out on Monday. But what is interesting is that given how much the Republicans go on and on about voter fraud but ignore the fact the voter machines can be easily tampered with and that Romney does have the funds and the connections to do this. There may not be any facts to back this up but the possibility is indeed real.

We may already have a serious problem (among all of the other ones we have) if this article is true.

The sad thing is that no matter who wins, there will be civic unrest.

it looks like...

option one, both groups hate each other so mutch, that you believe the opposite is willing to do even the worst things

option two, there are really reasonable doubts

both is sad and dangerous

This is no more scary than the documented proof of Panthers that stood outside voting stations and harassed voters with physical harm if people didn't vote the way the panthers wanted.

So you mean to tell me an investment company is investing in technology and an industry that is pretty much guaranteed growth in the coming years? Shock I tell you! Shock! Discovering tampering in an electronic machine is easy as hell to uncover, and with the ties you can bet that there would be an investigation if something happens.

Well, it becomes questionable when one of the founders, who still owns stock in the company, is running for President of the country they will be used in.

I am getting so tired of all this campaign crap. People who care about politics made up their minds a long time ago. All this crap now is just for the "low infomration" voter who don't know nor care about things like this. Most of them wouldn't vote anyway even if you put a polling place next to their home, but there is a chance a few might turn out so world news get's a side seat to what these guys are doing. Instead of hearing about a guy trying to blow up the fed we hear "Obama picked his nose." and "Romney paid someone to scratch his ass."

Mittens is already doing a good job doing that himself
I don't want Romney to win, but I think it's only fair to say he's been a strong candidate for several weeks now ... to the point that all the early near-certainty that Obama would win is gone.
Let's not kid ourselves. For all the shape shifting of his campaign, Romney is a formidable candidate.

O.K., but today's fivethirtyeight says, that even though yesterday was fairly quiet in so far as polling, the President gained 8 Electorial votes from the day previously. I happen to trust fivethirtyeight as a great way to gauge all polling for any given particular polling day.

I can't believe anyone, ANYONE, can find private ownership (privatization) of our most basic right acceptable.

Even when it was done on paper ballot, do you think the government cut down the trees, pulped the wood, produced the paper, manufactured the ink, etc?

It's always been private.

But, in complete fairness, *if* this story is true it does reek of a conflict of interests.

In the same way that George Bush should not have wagered on baseball, while he owned the Texas Rangers team, one of the Presidential candidates should not be a majority stockholder in the company providing the voting machines.
