Tragic but true:

Mitt Romney’s comments on the 47 percent of Americans who make too little to pay income tax and “will vote for this president no matter what” are causing him some political problems this morning. But could they cause him any electoral problems? Is he really insulting anyone who would already be willing to vote for him?

Actually, yes. The Tax Foundation put out this helpful map of the states with the highest and lowest percentage of people who don’t file income tax returns. The biggest non-filing states are — except Florida and New Mexico — solid red states:

Mitt Romney will probably get 95 electoral votes from ‘moocher’ states. Obama will probably get 5.

I have always thought that the "Top Drawer" Republicans have publically pandered to certain elements of the electorate (like the conservative religious right) while secretly despising them for a number of reasons. The map certainly bears this out! It's why a lot of people in the past have voted against their own interests because of the "wedge" issues.

If it wouldn't have been for Obama "demanding" the 20 billion in restitution from BP (instead of the $20 MILLION that the GW Bush oil lobbyists wrote into their own bill!) -- the Gulf States would have paid a much heavier price for that oil spill in the Gulf! Are they grateful??? They've swallowed the Faux news cool-aid that Obama is a Muslim and totally anti-Christian!

Yep. The sexiness of 'tax cuts' just isn't a vote getter. So the political strategists had to use deeply divisive 'value' issues to get the foot soldiers motivated while the plutocrats worked vigilantly upending government for their own good . Witness the recent 'value voter summit' which is a who's who of right-wing wackjobs. Needless to say it's a ruse to keep the soldiers from realizing the very party they are voting for is making sure all the 'who gets what' flows to a select few. While they get crumbs like the 'Marriage Protection Act', countless anti-abortion bills and countless pro-gun laws.

The point that is so outrageous in all of this that is NOT being addressed is WHY are so many families in need of public assistance?

It is because of the Mitt Romney types who have made a fortune on other people's misfortune 15,20,30 years ago (not to mention disenfranchised groups that go back hundreds of years) when companies downsized or moved operations to cheaper countries to pay workers less and avoid taxes.

Ugh, the choice this year couldn't be more clear!
