Once again, the GOP allows a dubious has-been to be its voice and so that's who people will believe speaks for the GOP.

Steele is a weakling. He caved on his criticism of Limbaugh as soon as Limbaugh challenged him:
In comments that were broadcast over the weekend, Republican Party Chairman Michael Steele called Rush Limbaugh's rhetoric "incendiary" and "ugly" and insisted that he is in charge of the GOP.

On Monday, however, after a blistering response from the conservative talk-radio kingpin, Steele told the online journal Politico that he "was maybe a little bit inarticulate."

"There was no attempt on my part to diminish his voice or his leadership," Steele said. He added, "There are those out there who want to look at what he's saying as incendiary and divisive and ugly. That's what I was trying to say. It didn't come out that way." -CNN.com

"Inarticulate," my ass. Like Eisenhower eventually did with McCarthy, Steele should have stood his ground and said, 'this is where we are taking the party. Limbaugh can follow or be left out in the cold.'

And hello? "Leadership??" Who the fuck is the leader here Mr. Steele? He went from a partychair to a lawnchair in one statement.

It does sound a little difficult to believe that Biden was actually, "telling off the president," in a private meeting in the oval office...several times.

Whether one approves of Rove or not, Biden is a storytelling, blowhard redneck. He is better suited to coaching jr. high football or running a gas station.

Well that is difficult to believe, I have to say that. I don't picture Biden or anyone else, "telling off," the president. The Dems were perfectly happy to stand by and do nothing except collect earmarks while Bush ran everything into the ground.

um... he's the VP.

Traditionally the most useless job in government.

Just because republicans were willing to allow a VP to be the secret president making all of GWs decisions doesn't mean other administrations were so stupidly and unlawfully run.

Phil may believe that, but he hasn't conceded it anywhere.

This, in Ayeshogese, means this:

VP..Traditionally the most useless job in government.

Republicans allowed an idiotic VP to make important decisions and maintain a key voice in shaping policy under the Bush Admin. The Obama Administration knows that Biden is very foolish and ignorant, and won't allow him to do much more than tell a few stories on HBO talk shows.

Three quarters of the peeps in Peoria would agree with that.

Isn't the job description of the VP traditionally to be the best approximation of a "warm bucket of piss" possible?

Obama knew he was selecting a Gaffe-O-Matic in September and went ahead anyway. I've never been a fan of Joe Biden at all, and his personal bankruptcy bill (so craven to the credit industry in Delaware) merely confirmed what I'd always felt.

Karl Rove, on the other hand, is an indicted treasonous felon (who will, assuredly, remain so): Plamegate has his greasy, oddly tiny fingerprints all over it. My one comfort is that Rovian overreach spoiled the republican brand for an entire generation of voters. He makes Machievelli look like Mia Farrow or Phil Donahue.

Stop being so hard on my buddy Joe.We love to sit around his table at the diner and listen to him explain life, then follow him over to the Home Depot for friendly advice on how to build things.
