I see nothing wrong with your measuring technique. Looks totally valid to me. Sitting has NOTHING to do with an accurate measurement except for possibly making it appear smaller and pulling an erection makes no difference because a full hardon is already fully expanded.

There's lots of stuff in most big dick measurement pictures which doesn't comply, but depending on how knowledgeable the photographer is about dick photography, it sometimes gets quite a bit difficult to see exactly what was done. Where the average dummy porn audience can be fooled into not noticing the three inches of seamstress tape wrapped around the girl's finger or the measurement starting at inch four on the ruler, figuring out some of the more creative stuff can be like solving a Columbo mystery. This is why I believe the only pictures that really mean much would be the standard measurement style:
- Standing, looking down from the penis owner's POV, where you can see that your body and legs are straight & together, and feet are on the floor.
- Penis sticking straight out at the standard 90 degrees (Again, this is why POV makes sense - If parts of the picture are cropped off in the right way, the camera's pointing in from some weird angle, and the lower half of the person's legs are missing, you can't tell what position or angle the person's body/dick is actually in - but I'm sure nobody knows that when they shoot those)
- *Ruler* on top/center of dick. Shit on a soft tape for measuring the length of anything - I'm sure someone out there actually does that with good intentions and gets an accurate measurement (and my apologies to them), but it seems to usually just be a cop out for guys to take front view downward pointing shots with the tape draped over the front,random start point,etc. It's messy and inaccurate at best, and it just leaves people with an easy option to cheat in a variety of ways. If it's curved a bit, just sandwich the shit between the back of a small hardcover book or whatever and the ruler while you get the measurement. If it was so damn rock hard that it couldn't do that, you wouldn't be able to comfortably have sex with the normal forward thrusting of hips. I have yet to see a large "hook weenie" in anything which looks like it doesn't flex.
The attached picture should explain why the "top looking straight down" perspective is really the only valid one. I know Shannon has pointed out before how depth and perspective tricks can be used to give your dick a different relationship to the ruler or make it look as if it occupies more space on it, but the "dick and ruler at different distances" isn't always the classic "above and below". Side views could be used like that too, and looking at the measurement from weird angles can add a deceiving depth measurement to the length (as seen in the attachment), just like the cloth tape does.
Basically, if you probably wouldn't be allowed to do it in front of nurses,etc. while taking part in some supervised study... it shouldn't fly anywhere else.
I know this post will probably ruffle some feathers, but the way I look at it, if you have a really big dick and know that you're in a very small minority there, you should be thankful for that, as well as considerate of and sympathetic toward those less fortunate. If you have such a dick, yet insist on lying/exaggerating and throwing out inflated numbers to impress people, you're self centered and ungrateful, and you're part of the problem which brought us to where we are. I have less disrespect for all the porn stars who do that, as at least in their case you can pretend that it's not their personal choice, and that their management and promoters put them up to it or did it for them.

I Agree with all of that, Shepardson. Overhead photos are good, as long as the ruler's on top. If the ruler's below the dick, it's a worthless shot. Even if you're well-intentioned, with the ruler 1" below and from the angle of your base, a 6" reads as 8". The majority of so-called 8-inchers out there are victims of this self-delusion.

Lol--I think its hilarious how angry some people get over OTHER peoples measurement techniques . . . like penis nazis . . . I personally find it difficult to use a stiff ruler on my downward curve, and if I try to straighten it to get a more accurate measurement I start to lose the erection from the pressure (they are called 'boners' for a reason). I never care to appear bigger than I am but I definitely dont want to appear smaller than I am--lol . . . You want to measure from the top and say you have an 8 inch then measure from the top and say you have an 8 inch; you want to measure from the side and say you have an 8 inch then measure from the side and say you have an 8 inch. What does it freakin matter. And just an FYI, in my experience measuring sitting actually makes your cock SMALLER not bigger, since the part thats between the scrotum and anus pulls back from bending at the waist.

Can't be done, as many of the earlier submissions are gone.
Measuring sitting allows you to pull it down farther in relation to your body than it would be when parallel to the floor while standing, adding a lot to the measurement.
