Looks like the shit hit the fan.

I think if anything like this happened in America the masses would be out with pitchforks and torches, and they're would be more than simple resignations. Heads would definitely roll. How complacent everything in Britain seems to be. Where is the public outrage? Are they so jaded and beaten down that these things don't matter to them. Or are we just not getting the whole story from the US news media. Fox news? lol.
What?? Wholesale invasions of private communications happen daily in the U.S. and the American public just bend over and take it and have been doing so for years. Even before the "Patriot" Act.

Whats that about 'out of the frying pan into the fire'? Murdoch at least was interested in political influence and willing to pay for it. There is a considerable question whether without him - as seems increasingly likely - the death of the newspapers will be accelerated. More ex KGB will be buying up UK newspapers.

Rupert Murdoch just got twatted with a custard pie live on BBC & Sky!

His crazy Filipino(?) wife then twatted the splatter.

Quality - & Justice. Lets see a lot more of this!:biggrin1:

His son's accent sounds like a travel brochure for the financial capitals of the world. US, Brit, Aussie ...& various locales inbetween.

Er,that's cos no one has yet been found guilty!!

Aren't resignations a sign that they are somewhat soiled with guilt or at least complicit?

Yeah, but no foreign robber baron is having us bend over and taking it up the ass.

We are just getting butt fucked by our own.

oh nice one.

There were one or two times today when the people being interviewed by parliament expressed great regret that had they known then what they know now, then things would have been done very differently. Indeed. But which things do they know now but did not then?

Havnt seen any video pf it, but the way Murdoch senior was described he is getting seriously past it. Or he was working on a defence of senile dementia. Now who was it who used that one last?

Rebekah Brooks is a big liar and the committee let her get away with it. Who was the idiot MP in the upper right of the screen? Damien Collins is his name and he couldn't ask a straight question to save himself. It was embarrassing to listen to him stumble around hemming and hawing.

It appears that the hacking of voice mail has been endemic throughout the media in the UK "standard practice". If they find anything incriminating, then they say look we are going to print this, are you going to deny it? Or give us your version!

But now here is the major concern for me, the police and security services say almost weekly, acting on a tip off from a member of the public, we have arrested x y or z, intercepted this shipment of drugs etc. now we know the police were getting back handers from the papers, are they sharing this sort of information as well.

Are everyones phone been hacked, listen too, afterall if a police officer has "concerns" about a person, he does not have any evidence to apply for a court order, what if he gives this persons phone number to the papers, let them hack it and listen in or record the voice messages.

just a thought as to why the police found no evidence of hacking in 2006-7-8-10!

you ring the number and when the answerphone answers you type in the code number. It then plays you the messages. If the owner doesnt bother to change the code from the default, then its dead easy. Learnt that from the BBC years ago.

Dont remember but they said all the phones are made by the same few companies and are exactly the same, so I would suggest trying the one from your own phone.

I guess the man whose job it is to do this has a little list.

Murdoch is an interesting study of contradictions in some ways. He preaches conservatism and is opposed to most things dealing with sexuality in any form as most conservatives are. At the same time NEWSCORP which he owns is the largest single publisher of pornography in the world. Murdoch claims conservative traditional family values constantly and yet at the same time shows which air on the FOX network include but are not limited to: The Simpsons which is a hallmark of a completely dysfunctional family life portrayed in such a manner as to make it seem acceptable, they have Family Guy which portrays along with the character of Homer Simpson the average American Father as an absolute moron. Then there is the worst of them all which is "American Dad" which tries to make an ultra-right winger look stupid which is an insult to Murdoch himself.

The people who respect Fox do not understand the one thing that is the underlying theme for anything and everything Murdoch touches. The only thing this man lives for is more money and more power. He has proved that by controlling what news people get you can then control public opinion. Murdoch does not run for political office because he can do far more to gain even more money and more power by doing exactly what he is doing right now.

Murdoch has his two things of worship and those are his power and his money and we have finally seen the beginning of a hairline crack that would have the ability to take down a very dangerous empire. I have extreme doubts that it will ever be seen because he will buy whomever he needs to eliminate any investigation or threat with regards to similar activities taking place in the United States as compared to the U.K..

He is crashing a very lucrative publications to make himself look like the one thing he isn't and that is a "good guy". The only reason he would crash one thing is to as most billionaires do make the loss of that publication into one giant "tax-write-off" and he will replace it with something that makes even more money and have the taxpayers pick up the tab. As a human being he is completely amoral. As a businessman and as a generator for profit at all costs he is a genius.

He will succeed as long as his methods remain under cover. You can bet where he is throwing money and what he is looking at right now with regards to corporate security.

WOW --- be nice to know who his "friends' are in the US. How I remember Georgie Bush and his friend "Kenny Boy" (who also seemed to know absolutely nothing about all the shenannigans at Enron!) Wonder if Rupert will take the same "out" Kenny Boy did????

I'm just waiting for the other shoe to fall in the USA with FAUX News. Can hardly wait for "leaked" photos of Sean Hannity's tiny penis and the discovery of kickback money received by O'Reily's No Spin Zone harem of blow job slaves.

Oh MidLifeBear --- the scandals in the US that might effect Faux News probably aren't HALF as exciting as those that might effect the high up politicos that Murdoch probably "schmoozes" with!!:biggrin1:

Oh this is fun. Parliament can so seldom agree on anything that it usually does nothing. Now they all feel it is the most advantageous thing to go after the murdochs.

So they are dusting down the lawbooks!. No one seems to know exactly what the procedure is for pariament to summon people to attend. However, after some hunting they seem to agree that first they ask nicely. Then they issue a warrant. The seargeant at arms can then coopt the police to drag someone before the house. If the person fails to cooperate then they can charge him with contempt, find him guilty and fine or imprison him. I would suspect the fines/imprisonment are probably open ended.

They just said no one had been forced to attend since about 1950. No one had been fined since 1600 odd. Wonder if we will get to the imprisonment bit?

Good for the UK --- it seems in America someone like Karl Rove can just ignore a congressional Subpoena and --------- nothing happens!!!!!
