The Washington Post - Dec. 13, 2020:
Russian government spies are behind a hacking campaign that has breached U.S. agencies and a top cyber firm.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/nati...a53b88-3d7d-11eb-9453-fc36ba051781_story.html

Russian government hackers breached the Treasury and Commerce departments, along with other U.S. government agencies, as part of a global espionage campaign that stretches back months, according to people familiar with the matter.

Officials were scrambling over the weekend to assess the extent of the intrusions and implement effective countermeasures, but initial signs suggested the breach was long-running and significant, the people familiar with the matter said.

Here's more news about that:

Austin-based SolarWinds at center of massive US government hack | KXAN Austin

WASHINGTON (AP, KXAN) — Hackers broke into the networks of the Treasury and Commerce departments as part of a global cyberespionage campaign. They accessed those networks by slipping malware into a (IT Management) SolarWinds software update, (SolarWinds.com), according to the global cybersecurity firm FireEye, which was also compromised.

The first phases of this months-long cyberespionage campaign started in the spring. The malware gave the hackers remote access to victims’ networks.

The FBI and the Department of Homeland Security’s cybersecurity arm are investigating what experts and former officials said appeared to be a large-scale penetration of U.S. government agencies.
Industry experts said it bore the hallmarks of Russian tradecraft.

“This can turn into one of the most impactful espionage campaigns on record,” said cybersecurity expert Dmitri Alperovitch.

The hacks were revealed less than a week after FireEye disclosed that foreign government hackers had broken into its network and stolen the company’s own hacking tools. Many experts suspect Russia is responsible. FireEye’s customers include federal, state and local governments and top global corporations.

In speaking of the massive Russian cyberhack, the extent of which is still being discovered and unfolding, Mitt Romney compared it to Russian bombers flying over America.... which incidentally, Mitch, they've ALREADY tried to do as well, reportedly on 5 occasions:

US fighter jets intercept 8 Russian warplanes 30 miles from Alaska
US fighter jets intercept 8 Russian warplanes near Alaska for 4th time in a week
US fighter jets intercept Russian warplanes near Alaska for 5th time in 2 weeks

Not to mention that whole Russian bounty on America troops thing. And ALL of it, including the latest Russian hack of American servers, courtesy of Trump's good pal PUTIN... and under TRUMP'S WATCH... reportedly begun in the SPRING, during the campaign and well before the November election.

And yet TRUMP has yet to utter ONE PEEP in criticism of Russia or Putin, about ANYTHING. And this is the weasel that Trump's deplorables are fighting to keep in the White House, and according to some, are ready to FIGHT for??

What the FUCK, people? Nevermind patriotism, 'cause we now KNOW for you, that's a sham. But at least have some fkn sense of INDIGNATION.

^ How has your sleep been, lately, my friends?

NYT Opinion:
I Was the Homeland Security Adviser to Trump. We’re Being Hacked.
The magnitude of this national security breach is hard to overstate.

By Thomas P. Bossert
...

"President Trump must get past his grievances about the election and govern for the remainder of his term. This moment requires unity, purpose and discipline. An intrusion so brazen and of this size and scope cannot be tolerated by any sovereign nation.

We are sick, distracted, and now under cyberattack. Leadership is essential."

Thomas P. Bossert, who was the homeland security adviser to President Trump and deputy homeland security adviser to President George W. Bush, is the president of Trinity Cyber, a firm that provides network security services to governments and private companies.

Listen to the MAGA crowd they don't care at all about Putin about Russia. It's about those immigrants from shit hole countries and minorities that are robbing us. The MAGA crowd has been the biggest boon to Russian efforts to weaken the US in history by putting a Russian stooge in the White House. And coincidentally the biggest hack of the US government in history happened under him. It may not be that big of a coincidence.

Do recall

Russian ambassador told Moscow that Kushner wanted secret communications channel with Kremlin

Conclusively:

Hatred of liberals is all that’s left of conservatism

If you were dropped in from another country without knowing anything about the United States and surveyed our current political moment, what would you conclude about the Republican Party and the broader conservative movement it represents? As 2020 comes to an end, what is conservatism about?

After nearly four years of Donald Trump’s presidency in which no misdeed was too vulgar or corrupt for conservatives to defend, now culminating in an outright war against democracy itself, you might be tempted to answer, “Nothing.” Though that’s not quite true, the real answer is not much more encouraging.

The president’s response to what lawmakers have called an act of war is to:
—give cover for Russia
—attack the intelligence community
—criticize the media
—connect it to his false claims of election fraud

Poor Donnie. Every day, he gets increasingly more frantic and desperate as the demise of his disastrous (p)residency looms ever closer. Vlad is not happy. Vlad demands loyalty. Vlad punishes failure. Oh, my, oh, my!—what vengeance Vlad will exact upon his failed kompromat/useful idiot Donnie, along with the nefarious misbegotten demon spawn of Trump. 31 days, Donnie. 31 days. The bell tolls for thee. What will be your final act(s) of betrayal of the United States to satiate your owner Vlad and attempt to begin to pay off your debts to him? Isn’t the distinction of worst and most corrupt American president ever enough for you? Perhaps you could call upon the spurious deity the evangellrumpublicans blindly worship and claim sent you for an immediate recall. MAGA. Leave. It’s over. Go. Your services are no longer required or wanted.

What will be his final acts of betrayal is anyone's GUESS, considering all the betrayals SO far.

All I know is I personally find Trump's removal of top military and intelligence brass and replacing them with loyalists, his continued defense of Putin and Russia, the Russian aircraft sorties close to American airspace and this whole cyber-security BREACH, all a little too coincidental for my druthers. Especially with some of his GOP supporters and sycophants calling for martial law and a military takeover of government.

Do I truly believe there's actually a plan in the works, something more than rank INCOMPETENCE? Don't know.

Do I think he'd be ABOVE seeking assistance from Russia for some kind of "assistance"... IF he thought he could GET AWAY with it? Absolutely NOT.

We're talking about the guy who in both presidential elections SOUGHT foreign interfere, the latter via attempted EXTORTION, the guy who left Kurdish allies to Turkish ethnic cleansing, the guy who lied to the American people, on multiple occasions, about coronavirus, the guy who's caged and deported children even against court order, the guy who told anarchists and supremacist to "stand by," AND the guy who put unidentified secret police on the streets of an America city, to SNATCH American citizens into vans without either arrest, law enforcement identification, or due process.

So I figure the next step isn't all THAT far from the realm of possibility:

Can I correctly CALL these fkrs, or can I call these fkrs?

Only yesterday I made some observations about what Trump and his cronies were capable of.

And now Trump and select sick-minded SYCOPHANTS, have reported met to DISCUSS DECLARING MARTIAL LAW.
LET THAT SINK IN for a moment.

Donald Trump, met with a convicted, then Trump pardoned ex-agent-correspondent of a foreign government, and a bat-shit crazy, Q-Anon following, lunatic lawyer that even Trump's lawyers have tried to distance themselves from, and they're being bankrolled by an equally bat-shit crazy, evangelical, PILLOW salesman -

met in the White House, of all places, under cover of growing national MEDICAL EMERGENCY, and on the last weekend before CHRISTMAS, mind you - for the PURPOSE OF SERIOUSLY DECLARING MARTIAL LAW AND A MILITARY TAKEOVER of this COUNTRY.

And HARDLY A BLURB about it, on online media news sources!

MEANWHILE, What does Trump have to say about the clearly Russian sourced cyber attack on our country? DAMN NEAR NADA:

After cyber attack against the USA, trump issues tweet defending Russia and blaming everyone else

48 HOURS LEFT - for Putin's ASSET in the OVAL OFFICE to FUCK AMERICA one more time:

Trump scandal: His Russian counter-intelligence investigation was secretly blocked

As Trump’s one term winds to a thankful close, one of the largest scandals remains seemingly forgotten and bizarrely unexplained. There not only has never been a counter-intelligence investigation into Trump’s connections with Russia and Russia’s interference in the 2016 election — but we have learned that this is because that investigation was secretly thwarted by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

When Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller was appointed, he was supposed to take over both aspects of the FBI’s dual investigations. Except, we subsequently learned, Deputy AG Rosentein told Mueller to limit his investigation to a criminal investigation only, and then deliberately concealed that instruction from the FBI. The result was that Mueller thought that the FBI was conducting the counter-intelligence investigation, and the FBI thought that Mueller was conducting the counter-intelligence investigation. Thus, as intended by Rosenstein, no one conducted a counter-intelligence investigation into Trump’s connections or misconduct with Russia.

Parler is back online now by routing 100% of its user traffic through servers located within the Russian Federation.

Raise your hand if you understand the very significant impact this has on the ability to surveil and target insurrectionists who organize on Parler.

Who did Parler's CEO speak with to set up this arrangement, the GRU? Treasonous cunt.

That platform is a national security threat and should be banned immediately.

Parler Lives Again

Awhile back in the Trump Dictatorship thread I suggested a scenario (no doubt viewed by some as absurd) in which Trump and company might enlist the aid of foreign adversaries, particularly Putin, to intervene on behalf of Trump, even possibly via military assistance.

WELL, that hasn't happened in that exact manner... YET. But in a way, it HAS. And what are the implications?

It means that Trump's so-called "PATRIOTS" and "real" Americans, who are posting hate speech and promising violent INSURRECTION, all because they wish to DENY THE FACT that 80 MILLION voters turned out to remove a fkng fascist, white supremacist, dictator wanna be from the White House,

and because they want to DENY THE LEGITIMACY of Black votes, have turned to RUSSIA, to further disseminate their hate, bile, threats, "alternate realities" and treasonous talk of CIVIL WAR.

Turns out, they REALLY WOULD RATHER BE RUSSIA THAN DEMOCRAT. I'm SO tired of being SPOT ON about these m-----------------------.

And if the ABOVE isn't convincing enough, here's ANOTHER one of Trump's "PATRIOTS":

rileyjunewilliams.jpg

A woman seen wearing a white nationalist T-shirt and directing people towards Nancy Pelosi’s office during the Capitol insurrection on Jan. 6 is now under investigation for possibly stealing the Speaker of the House’s laptop and planning to sell it to Russia’s secret service.

Riley June Williams, 22, from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, is currently on the run from authorities after video footage captured inside the Capitol clearly shows her taking an active role in directing the insurrection.

But the FBI is now investigating an altogether more troubling accusation.

According to a former love interest of Williams, who contacted the FBI’s tip line in the days after the attack, Williams had stolen a laptop or hard drive from Pelosi’s office, which she planned to give to the Kremlin.

These details were included in an affidavit filed on Sunday evening by FBI agent Jonathan Lund outlining the criminal case against Williams.

“[The witness] also claimed to have spoken to friends of Williams, who showed [the witness] a video of Williams taking a laptop computer or hard drive from Speaker Pelosi’s office. [The witness] stated that Williams intended to send the computer device to a friend in Russia, who then planned to sell the device to SVR, Russia’s foreign intelligence service.”

The witness said that the sale had fallen through for “unknown reasons” and that Williams either destroyed the computer device or still has it.

Lund added that the Russia allegations are still under investigation.

The affidavit says Williams has changed her telephone number and deleted her social media accounts on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Reddit, Telegram, and Parler since Jan. 6.
