This is great for exposure and possibly future roles . Specially in gay films where he would get gay guys looking to find out who he is because he is hot. Doesn't matter how small of a role he had in it. Appearing in films cause increase in following and engagement.
Considering he is either straight, bi or DL gay, he could just say in his defence to gay accusations it was a role and he was simply acting. Nothing to do with his real life situation.
The fact he did not post it goes to show he prob felt it was not necessary since he had no lines in it plus it would make people question his sexuality more which by the looks of it he doesn't like.
Funny because a lot of straight actors in gay roles heavely embrace and advertise their gay role to for many profitable reasons.

What you said is true if it was just a non speaking role he could use the opportunity for further exposure and noteriety. Maybe in the near future is potential acting role could be a speaking one regardless how small it is. Possibility in his mindset the role was unimportant so he was nonchalant about it?.
I think it is that but more because its a gay role he portrayed and we all been speculating his situation.
