Ryeley's memorial service is to be streamed today on YouTube.
Ryeley was a misguided and confused kid who was just trying to do the best he could in this world, no different than any of us here.
It's becoming apparent now that his family life was never stable or loving, and that takes a toll on a young kid growing up in a small town. He struggled with mental illness to the point of dropping out of school. Drug use and fist fights were part of his life as seen in some of his videos. He spoke often on his social media about feelings of anger, sadness and depression.
As unacceptable as some of his words and behavior were, I don't think Ryeley was a bad person so much as a product of his environment. I often saw his followers share private conversations they had with him. They were thrilled he would take the time to talk to them. He seemed like a great kid; friendly, supportive, fun loving, encouraging others and always offering help.
A promising life ended way too soon eight days ago. The people who should be impacted the most seem more concerned with how to make it benefit them. I take solace in knowing Ryeley will be remembered for years to come while his old man will remain the nobody he's always been.
Rest easy big guy
