    S. Bay Students Wearing U.S. Flag Shirts Sent Home

First of all they did this for NASTY reasons.
    You all know this.
Second of all, I can not believe that one was MIXED with Mexican and White and he went along with his WHITE friends. That is SAD, for him to even SPIT on his OWN race.

It was JUST ONE day! You can WEAR your USA flags shirts and USA FLAG GEAR ANY OTHER day! Why that day for Hispanic Americans? Hell, it was ONLY ONE day that was for them to LIVE without HATE.. Is that TOO much to ask for? I guess so.....

When will we STOP being NASTY to each other?
You don't see folks SPITTING on the GREEN day, Irish or Thanks giving, which a LOAD of NATIVE folks DIED at the hands of other folks...
Then the parents of the kids wearing the USA get up, CLAIM that they did NOTHING wrong!! WOW, HATE will go on to a NEW generation, way to go.

I guess we AMERICANS forget that we ALL are from other lands. It is FUNNY how we forget so easy. The NATIVE people that was forced to live on POOR reservations. We need to LEARN to STOP this pis poor HATE.

What next? Kids will wear NAZI gear during Black History month..
We ALL need to STOP and learn to live in this SMALL world together!

happened in Morgan Hill, CA. the local news reported that it was minor and the vice principal shouldn't have done that, according to the principal.

Doesn't really apply here, but I figured I'd post anyway.

Take from that what you will, but the flag code is never listened to except by those that bother researching such things.

The students were sent home for fear of a fight starting over what they were wearing. If anything, the school's actions were promoting the safety of these students. The people complaining were the hispanic students, not the administration, so there was evidently some tension.

They were being intentionally obnoxious and it is a sign of disrespect. What they were implying is quite obvious. Asshats, the lot of them.

I wonder what the reaction would've been had those kids been allowed to remain at school and had gotten into some sort of brawl.

if one or two of them were in fact Hispanic, then clearly what is being implied was not the motivation

One was half-hispanic. So if not the obvious, what would be the reason for a few students to wear American flags on the 5th of May?

Typical overreaction by school adminisrators. I predict that the principal and assistant principal of this school are going to be looking for another line of work.

Seriously this is the United States of America if someone wants to wear a tee shirt with the US Flag on it I don't see why thats a problem. I hope these kids sue the school system for violating their Constitutional right to free speach.

If any Hispanics living in the United States are offended by the US flag they should just GO BACK TO MEXICO!

I think what the code is saying is that an actual flag should never be used, not the depiction of one.

You are right, that is exactly what it is saying. Putting a depiction of a flag on a shirt is not disrespecting the flag. Every US serviceman wears a depiction of the flag on their uniform...i wonder if they had any ROTC students at that school. I wonder if they made them take the flags off of their uniforms that day?

While I do not really support the school's actions, I do think that the students were attempting to provoke a reaction.

Good lord at folks over reacting here.

Perhaps it was in poor taste to wear the shirts, who knows?

They have to act in the best interest of the student's safety regardless of whether or not they show up in Culture Club t shirts or whatever.

In this day and age where kids are carrying guns and knives to school, who in their right mind would risk it? I know i wouldn't. They needed to be sent home to avoid problems and since one of the kids was half Mexican, I don't see as how they were trying to start a race riot.

You cannot govern common sense, this is why we have a judicial system and rules set in place for those in the world who struggle with the lack of it.

They reascended the decisions and the t shirts can stay.

actually, on second thought, I'm going to do an Obama flip on this one

given that the kids were Kalifornians, a patriotic gesture is likely not tenable, and as a political statement, probably too sophisticated for them, as well

more than likely, there was something boorish in their motivations
