Agreed. As someone who was very critical of Sam at one point, I say good for him. There is always a delicate balance between people who rightly call him out for the hypocrisy, and bitter queens who just revel in tearing down Pretty People. And while I support efforts to stop him from using his influence for money when he can't even do the bare minimum, the negativity surrounding his new relationship seems to mostly reflects our own mental state than any higher ideals.
@bigboaster observed the greatest flak on this site seems to be reserved for the openly queer folks, which is a dynamic explained by jealousy with emphasis on body attractiveness in our community. As
others pointed out, whenever queer persons are criticized for their misdeeds, however rightly, there are always going to be a chorus of homophobes who just revels in their misery and feeling vindicated, not because of what they did but who they are. And that should give us all pause (the answer, of course, isn't blind praise either; but nuance is almost impossible on the Internet).
