Unbelieveable how her pick has catapulted a moribond GOP into the lead

Get this:*** Today’s cable catnip: While Obama leads in NBC’s electoral map, McCain has jumped ahead of the Illinois Democrat nationally, according to the post-convention USA Today/Gallup poll. In it, McCain leads Obama by four points among registered voters (50%-46%), after trailing Obama by seven after the Democratic convention (50%-43%) -- which is an 11-point swing. Among likely voters, moreover, the poll shows McCain leading by a whopping 10 points (54%-44%). McCain obviously seems to have gotten a bounce out of his convention. But is it really this big? And is it an ephemeral bounce? Or is it a political realignment after the conventions and the Palin pick? Or maybe is it just an outlier? The gold standard of national polling, the NBC/WSJ poll, comes out Wednesday. <<<

Honest to to goodness Obama should be up by 15 points vs. McCain but Palin has moved the GOP AHEAD!! If McCain doesn't self destruct ( which is rather possible), Obama is in deep doo doo.

The "librul" media is trying to make a horse race out of a blowout.

They are letting Palin get away with not saying anything about her views, or foreign policy credentials, and they are hyping up internet rumors to try and make her the martyr.

The "librul" media is doing what they do best, turning our political process into a tabloid magazine poll.

CNN still has the contest as a deadlock.
There's too many "polls" to look at. All of them have different results. You can't rely on a single one of them. So the fact that McCain leads in some while Obama leads in others doesn't phase me at all.

All symbolism, no substance. She won’t even touch substance because when they do their flimsy facade of happy, patriotic symbols falls apart immediately.

And sadly Americans seems to be more motivated by this BS than by facts, much less data; the very word carries the taint of liberal intellectual elitism, so forget it

This is beyond an exaggeration. Grand slam? ROTFLMAO! She was a good low-blow, a cheap ploy to lure angry Hillary supporters. It's a smart dirty move, but it's backfired for people who realize that Mccain is adopting Obama's "change" mantra and trying to convince everyone that he's "progressive" and a "maverick." I've shitted bigger mavericks than Mccain and Palin just proves that the Republican party HAS to pull all the stops and save face.

Before McCain starts packing to make the White House his ninth residence, we need to remember that it is the electoral college that selects our president. Remember 2000. Al Gore does. He had 250,000 more votes than Bush. But the electoral vote went to Bush.
The e
The chances of the electoral college and the popular vote being vastly differently is very great this year. Here is why:

1. The South - Here in most southern states except for those which more than 35 % black vote, Obama doesn't have a chance. The popular vote very well could be McCain 70 % to Obama's 30%.

2. The Swing States - We are just after the Republican Convention. It is normal for the party holding the convention to have a temporary surge in polls after their convention. The election will be decided by the swing states like Ohio. Pennsylvania, and Florida where the winner my win by two percentage points very much unlike the South.

3. Hillary - Hillary is going on the stump for Obama. She is already doing it. Hillary will probably do more for Obama as a supporter than she would have as VP candidate. She will be able to blunt some of the "woaman" appeal of Palin. In fact, it probably will be Hillary that Obama will turn to to make the big swipes at Palin. That way both Obama and Biden can take the "high road." The Republicans will be left to attack a woman not on the ticket. Hillary is in Florida as we discuss this attacking who? Palin

4. Bill - I don't know what the arrangement is, but the Clintons will have more power if Obama is president than if McCain is president. So Bill will pull out his charm and he will be the one that will go back to when we had good times, times when the Democrats were in the White House and the Republicans were not. Balanced budget, peace, prosperity all happened under our boy Bill. Bill can toot his own horn. Obama won't have to.

Points three and four make it possible for both Obama and Biden to focus the attack of McCain.

Points one and two show why the Republicans who argued so much about how the electoral college made the presidential election fair may switch their tune if McCain should win the popular vote by a million votes and lose the electoral college even by one vote.

I am not predicting this. I am saying it is possible and more probable this year than any year in my lifetime.

Palin is silver plate, not gold. She will tarnish. The silver will rub off before the election. She will make her mistakes. Some skeletons will be made up or found between now and election time. Don't forget the investigation. NO matter what is found, it will somehow hurt her. It always does hurt regardless whether the charge is true or false. Palin will turn into another politician just like the rest before the election. She very well may be an overall positive influence for McCain in the election and certainly not the liability some of the other possible chocies were. But she isn't going to change the vote by anywhere close to 10 percent in favor of McCain.

Palin: Clueless in Colorado About Economic Basics

by SusanG

Mon Sep 08, 2008 at 02:30:50 PM PDT

Not to worry. There's always on-the-job training:
Speaking before voters in Colorado Springs, the Republican vice presidential nominee claimed that lending giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac had "gotten too big and too expensive to the taxpayers." The companies, as McClatchy reported, "aren't taxpayer funded but operate as private companies. The takeover may result in a taxpayer bailout during reorganization."
Besides being dead wrong and ass backwards about how the corporations work, it's enlightening to see how instinctively wingnut talking points pop out when the hockey mom gets out of Alaskan territory. Ill-prepared, out of her depth, automatically falling back on "taxes are bad" even when it makes not a lick of sense ... no wonder Dick Cheney called her a good candidate this morning.

It is comforting to know that Palin spent most of her adult life as a member of, and was "saved" in, an evangelical church that teaches that Alaska will become a refuge for mankind after the apolcalypse, calls the Iraq War part of God's Plan, and practices speaking in tongues. Even more so that she switched to a "non-affiliated" one in 2002 during a run for office after the media got ahold of this information.

Palin and McCain’s Shotgun Marriage

By FRANK RICH
Published: September 6, 2008

SARAH PALIN makes John McCain look even older than he is. And he seemed more than willing to play that part on Thursday night. By the time he slogged through his nearly 50-minute acceptance speech — longer even than Barack Obama’s — you half-expected some brazen younger Republican (Mitt Romney, perhaps?) to dash onstage to give him a gold watch and the bum’s rush.

He wanted to choose the pro-abortion-rights Joe Lieberman as his vice president. If he were still a true maverick, he would have done so. But instead he chose partisanship and politics over country. “God only made one John McCain, and he is his own man,” said the shafted Lieberman in his own tedious convention speech last week. What a pathetic dupe. McCain is now the man of James Dobson and Tony Perkins. The “no surrender” warrior surrendered to the agents of intolerance not just by dumping his pal for Palin but by moving so far to the right on abortion that even Cindy McCain seemed unaware of his radical shift when being interviewed by Katie Couric last week.

The only problem, of course, is that the entire thing was a sham.

THIS

IS

HILARIOUS....

If had 4 straight days, I could find the dozens, if not hundreds of LPSGers who posted over the summer that this would be a landslide for Obama...

2.9% average RCP for McCain.

"shotgun marriage"... love these sorta reaches, keep the empty hollow rhetoric going,... it will only help McCain/Palin.

the New York Times???!!! love it. the most out of touch liberal news outlet in the USA (sorry LA Times, I think you've been beaten).

AMEN. This hype around Palin is based on her genitalia and not much else. She hasn't spoken much but the more she does the more she seems as out-of-touch as Mccain.

Spoken, speeches... blah blah. Done more the #1 pick in Obama. Not spoken about "change and hope", but actually has done work as a politician.

8 weeks left.

One thing that is not mentioned in this report or in any other that I have seen but that you can verify in the video of her speech is that she got a BIG BURST OF APPLAUSE with that line.

As always, the idiot vote is solidly Republican.

And hopefully the GOP can keep her shielded from the press, so she doesn't have to answer any questions about who she is.
