I wish you'd sign on and update us! lol. I'm all excited and anxious and everything else! You're like a sister to me! I don't have Meniere's, but I have vertigo... I know how much it sucks and how bad it can impact your life. It sucks. :frown1:

My pops has that...it DOES suck!

Oh baby! I hope everything works out with your doctor and you can be back at work soon. You will be in our prayers as always.
Feel better soon. We want to see you at our nude wedding this summer, my dear! My girl!

Hi Everybody!

Sorry it took me so long to update y'all; but my modem has been acting wonky lately. I finally went to Comcast to exchange it; and of course their system went down and anywho I'm back online.

So here's the deal. I have to see another doctor, maybe two doctors. Not because I'm not well enough to work, but because my primary care physician is not the one who initially said I couldn't work. I work(ed) for the State Dept. of Education, so bureucratic red tape is common. The Department of Education insisted that I go to my primary care physician for a return to work letter. However my primary is not the one who initially put me out of work. That would be my otolaryngologist (ENT). The doctor who said I couldn't work until August 2007 is the state doctor. So now I have to get an appointment with both my ENT and the doctor who initially said I shouldn't work for a year.

If you have never worked for a state or federal entity this bureaucratic, redtape run-a-round may be unfamiliar to you. It is unfortunately normal, and a very good sign. I am most hopeful.

The ball is in motion!

NJGQ - Not only do I work for the State, but also in the HR Dept. The red tape is unreal, unrelenting and totally unnecessary. It never ceases to amaze me how people that *want* to work are put through the ringer over one little piece of paper, or signature. Then here come all these ass wipes who are completly lazy and think they can cheat the system and DO! Hang in there, you'll be through all that red tape and back in your groove soon enough, if I know you like I think I do. :biggrin1:

As many of you know I have been on disability since May 2, 2006 due to Meniere's Disease. I have a physical at 2:00 PM EST today. Although I am not in remission, I have managed to control many of the more annoying symptoms with a very strict diet. No caffeine, less than 1,000 mgs of sodium a day; and I drink and cook with only distilled water. I pretty much cook everything from scratch as well. As a point of reference Campbell's Chicken & Rice contains 820 mgs. sodium. If I were to eat that, then I pretty much couldn't eat anything else the rest of the day. Even sodas contain small amounts of sodium. :frown1: So they are out as well.

I am hoping and praying that the doctor releases me so that I can go back to work full time; but will of course accept half-time. That means I won't be here as much, but I will still check in cause I like y'all so much.

Don't you sweat it there, hon'. We all hope the best for you & hope come through with flying colors!:wink:

Good luck girly, I believe in you, you can beat this thing, and get your life back to how you would like it. *hugs* be strong!
Dig it, there, NJqt, you got what it takes to beat this thing into the ground, so go in there fighting!
I hope your physical went well, and I will keep thinking the good thoughts for you. I hope you get to go back to work and resume that part of your life. Not working can be very difficult. You've managed to do it well, though, as far as I can tell.

Take care, beautiful lady!
I echo that, & am now goin' outta my mind wondering how you made out.

You gotta love the bureacracy that goes with disability & the red tape; I could've grown a full fledged beard waiting for them to decide whether or not to keep me my disability when my problem was controlled. I must've seen at least three or four doctors in five months, all of them didn't even give me an hrs worth of visit time, just 20 minutes or so, & then a recommendation , which disability never reviewed.
you have comcast too, huh?c yeah, same here, only thing is- the damn service is screwy because the rest of the neighborhood more than likely has pc's in their houses, and getting decent time for internet is like midnight. I'm seriously thinking of looking into Optimum.

The Official NJQT466 Update

* Though I feel much better than I did a year ago at this time; my doctor was not comfortable releasing me to go back to work even part-time.

* I spoke to my union representative and to Human Resources yesterday. It was agreed that the best thing for me to do at this time would be to resign my position. So, I was allowed to resign in good standing; and I have a letter stating that from HR; which I am sure will be helpful when I seek employment in Georgia.

* It is now official I am no longer employed by the NJ State Department of Education.

* I went to work today and cleaned out my cubicle and say good-bye to my friends. It was quick and bittersweet. Lots of feelings and emotions as I close this chapter of my life and start another.

* To add to the excitement and stress of my life yesterday, I found out that due to some bureaucratic, red tape, mix-up my housing money has been cut drastically. Since my lease is up at the end of June I have to pack, sell, or give away all my belongings and move out by June 30, 2007.

* I will be moving 930 miles south to West Bumblefuck, GA where I will be living with my parents.

* It gets better; dad will be 79 in 2 weeks and was diagnosed with Parkinson's last week. Mom (77) was kinda sketchy in the details of his current condition so I don’t know what stage he is. He looked okay at Christmas, he was just moving slowly, which I attributed to his arthritis and my moms family having descended on the house like locusts for 3 days.

* In a way, my not going back to work is probably a good thing. I think maybe we need to take care of each other right now.

* I fell in the shower this morning and my entire right side hurts, from shoulder to calf. When I say I fell, I mean hard! I slipped and actually fell out of the shower bringing down the shower curtain and the rod with me.

PAtsy Ann,

I am so sorry. I know that must have hurt. I do hope and pray your health and situation improve in the near future. I will be praying for you and your family. I think a number of us understand that situation.
