Could anyone recommend a good freeware or open source screenwriting program out there? I've got an idea for a script that's been kicking around in my head for a long time that I'd like to start work on, but at present I'm a little too cheap to shell out $100 for a program that does something that would be only slightly more difficult to do in Open Office.

Unfortunately I've never been able to find a free screenwriting program, just the pay software.

But if you're willing to pay for it I recommend Final Draft. You can download a free demo from their website (Final Draft -- Home). If I remember correctly the demo version doesn't let you save though :( I used it in during my screenwriting classes in college and it was great.

If you're internet savvy and not afraid of breaking the law I'm sure you could find a copy of it on a bit torrent or through Limewire. But I'd never recommend that...
