It's not a rape joke, it's a pin prick joke. Clearly you have no sense of humor just like I said.

I'm just going to come right out and say it. You're an idiot, here's your sign.

Oh and boo fucking hoo. You're the type of guy that says inappropriate shit and when someone calls you out on it you claim you're just joking. Do you even know how prevalent sexual assaults are? Do you have a clue about how many females on lpsg are victims of rape and other forms of sexual assault?

And yet your imbecilic country voted for a president who brags about GRABBING WOMEN BY THE PUSSY! Don't preach to me about sexual assault when you should be looking in the mirror and fixing what's wrong with your own damn country.

I think that second part is key. I can't speak for you, but I know if I am hurting someone, I had no other choices left, and I have never lost a second of sleep. (Unless you count that I was worried charges would be pressed because I stabbed that guy, never called the cops, and had no idea if he was dead or alive, but knew I left prints in the car, and on the weapon left behind.) In fact, there have been times I slept better because I know who I am. I agree with you (and your old boss) that when you recognize the same in someone else, you make friends, or leave them be.

Well said. And remind me to never piss you off, and definitely not if you have anything sharper than a crayon handy.

Corollary in the south is that if I'm not home and someone breaks in, they can have the TV - that is what insurance is for. But if my wife or kids or I are in the house, I'd shoot a hostile intruder without hesitation.

Got some great advice as a kid, "Never pick a fight, avoid them if you can. But if a fight cannot be avoided, render the aggressor either unwilling or unable to ever do so again."

Some very good points/thoughts. A little funny to me for timing though, since my sweetie and I have been discussing carry options at length just now, as well as things I can do to improve my aim :)

Well, at the risk of the shitstorm likely to follow this reply... I think that is very prudent, particularly assuming you either know, or plan to learn how to handle a weapon safely and secure it so others cannot get their hands on it. I think the NRA sticker in the window is second only to the dog in the window in deterrence.

I'm now trying to think of a joke about rape that I've found funny in the past. Can't quite think of one.

Reginald D Hunter has quite a funny routine about Joseph Fritzl. But the rape itself isn't the point of the joke...

My sweetie is a security advisor/contractor, as well as an instructor now and again for firearms stuff. I came from a very anti-firearm upbringing, though I myself was leaning more towards neutral with a bit of curiosity. He's the one who took me to a range the first time, years ago.

I am all about doing things as safely and as well informed as I can. At the moment I don't handle some of his handguns because their recoil spring is so heavy I can't very easily check to make sure they're unloaded before doing anything.

One of his colleague/friends competes (and wins) at an international level, who I've asked if he would mind helping me improve. My sweetie's speciality is more with rifles and long range, but his friend is beyond amazingly competent with handguns. I consider myself lucky to have such people teaching me.

I suspect someone is going to jump in with a pejorative anti-gun post eventually. And then we will have taken a thread that started with Louis Vuitton labeled flame-throwers in China and moved all the way around the world and political spectrum to gun control. With only a few bruised egos in the process.

A friend of my wife who put out her attacker's eyes with her thumb nails didn't need a flame thower. When it comes to fending off attack, I think the response should 'by any means possible'.

I hear one of the flame-thower's vendors has a brazier-n-briquets option for just additional shipping and handling.

+1 for "by any means possible"

Some ___ tries to force him/her/itself on my wife, son or daughter; game on.

Thumbs, flame-thrower, handgun, kick to the groin...whatever!

Luckily I do not require a flame thrower; everything is illegal in the UK, so I guess I would have to order it one part at a time and assemble it myself. I'm not sure I'd have the patience, especially if the instructions were in Mandarin.

Sometimes when I'm doing door work I have to intervene in situations when a woman is being harassed or molested,( I actually don't have to, but I do it anyway). Usually I just shout a lot and embarrass and humiliate the perpetrator, and let them know that I will happily spend my time making a witness statement to the police. I tend to be very loud about it so that everyone looks at him and recognises him next time they see him. Often what seems to happen is that men in their 30's 40's ,50's can't keep their hands to themselves and can't handle being ignored or rejected by very young women, - often young enough to be their daughter. Young men seem to be much better behaved for some reason, although there is the odd exception.

Sadly, I think that if I had a daughter I would advise her to be clever and charming, and pretend to be flattered but make it clear that she was not single, and was very much in love with her boyfriend. Even though "fuck off" is really the right answer, it's not safe to say that, and can provoke some very bizarre and unpleasant responses.

Eh, there is a lot of knock off shit made in Asian countries. The rest of it though? Yeah, racist as fuck.
EVERYTHING is made in China, so that comment is a bit unfair. My partner said something similar the other day, so I challenged him to find something in his house that wasn't made in China. The US does make more of it's own stuff than the UK I think, but try it.
