Selfie with a toothbrush?

Asking this as a civilian and not a site admin.

Is taking a selfie with a toothbrush in your mouth code for something? (Like on a sex profile, etc.) I've seen it enough times over the years and and it seems deliberate enough that it has me wondering.

...Or is this just a symptom of the bathroom mirror being some source of inspiration to vanity?

Wondering if it's a way to address certain requirements a lot of guys seems to have when they put out what/who they are looking for; good teeth and good oral hygiene are frequently mentioned from what I've seen.

Hey, look, I take good care of my teeth with my good oral hygiene brushing.

That way you don't have to say anything, as a picture does the talking for them???

Just a guess though; could be some new sexy trend I'm just not aware of, lol.

But then brushing/flossing seems to be more of a solo activity?

In other words, who knows, lol.

I was thinking maybe a euphemistic signifier for oral-oriented, but I still wonder if it's a legit codified reference to something else.

Hmm maybe its hard for AI to make a pic like that, or uncommon to have a pic of such type if catfishing, so people ask as a way to verify the person is real? I dunno, trying to think outside the box.

Personally haven't run into a lot of selfies with a toothbrush in their mouth, but its not like I am on any hookup/dating apps or viewing non-porn pics too...

The anti-catfishing idea makes a lot of sense actually. But I think the other benefit is to combat people who use old photos of their face on their profile.

I think you all may be reading into it too much...
In my experience, it's just a way for someone to make themself seem more personable on a dating app. If you're able to look attractive while doing something as mundane as brushing your teeth (which is something you usually do right out of bed, in a completely cosmetically unaltered state), it gives the idea that you're just a good-looking person, without having to put in much effort to be.

Most people do not have an old selfie of themselves brushing their teeth at the same time. But also it's a photo that anyone can do the same day if asked.

In 5 years it will be a selfie of something else to keep things updated.

My less obvious way is to look at the model of the phone the guy is using. But you don't always get photos with the phone in it.

As someone who’s taken photos with a toothbrush before , you are over analyzing it. Sometimes I just feel cute brushing my teeth so I snap a photo
