We have been discussing this as a side issue in the Senator Sarah Palin? thread.

Mark is at present leading Ted Stevens by 814 votes.

The Division of Elections resumed counting early, absentee, and Questioned ballots today. This afternoon Mark had a lead of three votes, with counting finished for the day, it stands at:

132,196 or 47.41% for Mark

131,382 or 47.14% for Ted.

They will continue counting Friday, hopefully Mark's lead will increase. There are perhaps 30,000 to 35,000 ballots on hand left to count. Mail ins from overseas are still being accepted.

We did a little dance at the campaign office when we heard of the 3 vote lead this afternoon.:biggrin1::biggrin1::biggrin1::biggrin1::biggrin1::biggrin1::biggrin1::biggrin1::biggrin1::biggrin1::biggrin1::biggrin1::biggrin1::biggrin1::biggrin1::biggrin1::biggrin1::biggrin1::biggrin1::biggrin1::biggrin1::biggrin1::biggrin1:

congrats Kal! My brother-in-law lives in Alaska and actually works for Stevens in a non-political research job in Washington. I can tell you he couldn't be MORE politically OPPOSED to Stevens but enjoys his job and does it well so he's a little worried but knows whatever is going to happen will happen. Keep counting bud!

The Campaign manager just sent out an e-mail, saying that there are 40,000 ballots on hand to still be counted. The more the better.

The division of elections is supposed to finish counting on the 19th, and certify the results on the 25th.

Garth33, sorry about your brother-in-laws possible job loss.

it's Governor. and some day maybe President.

Duh.

There is a thread in the politics forum started by Bobabooey69 discussing the possibility of her becoming Senator for this state. I was referring to the THREAD.

If Ted Stevens were to win re-election, then be expelled from the senate, the seat would be declared vacant, a special election would be held. She is at present the R in this state who would have the likeliest chance of beating Mark Begich.

I will be protesting under her window on Saturday, probably, as part of the nation wide protest against California Prop 8. Care to join?

please clarify your statement above...

Mark is leading by 814 votes or 3 votes? I'm confused.

While the counting was in progress yesterday afternoon, the Div Elections website was updated to show Mark with a lead of three, the counting continued til @7pm, the website was then updated to show Mark with a lead of 814. That is where it stands now.

And thanks to the Mod who moved this thread to where I intended it to be.

Amazing that you would side with anyone other than a democrat, even a convicted felon! So typical.
Is so wrong of me to think Sen Stevens didn't get a fair trial? See my recent posts in other threads for explanations on this. And I could find my self voting for a conservative Democrat.

I think you mean Palin, because you know what's gonna happen if Stevens squeaks through...and omg the horror
And what horrors would happen? The worst I could think of is Sara Palin be comes our Senator which I think she would do a better job for us Alaskans but then again I could be wrong on this and have been wrong befor :sigh1:

It means that Palin would have a better shot at becoming Die Führerin in 2012:eek:

Today's ballot counting brought Mark's lead up to 1,022.

Mark 138,959 or 47.37,
Ted 137,937 or 47.02

The next ( and probably finally deciding) counting is Tuesday.
