i was just thinking how women always put on face paint like make up (which i wish wasnt the case) and fake eye lashes and hair extension to look "good" but men dont have to do those things to be attractive...just a thought any takers on this? here a little insight to my thought Look At This...: Celebrities Without Makeup

I've never put on hair extensions or fake eyelashes, when I was a teenager I was a nail biter so I did have a go with false nails but I hated how they felt. Maybe women aren't so hung up on superficial appearance so men don't have any need to wear make up? :)

Workin' up a good pot of mad!
LOL! As I told a man who decided he wanted to talk to me about another woman who had a hair weave, " You liked what you saw, didnt you? Now you feel betrayed because it wasnt real?" LOL! Women do many of the things they do for men's attention. I may at most wear lipstick and some cologne, but dont do too much more than that. There are other times I may wear a fitted suit with 4 inch heels. If you dont like my wild crone hair and eccentric clothing styles, so be it and keep stepping. There are plenty who do.... But to answer your question:rolleyes: I think it depends upon the man. It wouldnt suprise me though, in many other parts of the animal kingdom the male has the brightest colors so why should we be different? It is your inner bird of paradise that matters anyway.

the link you posted is like comparing apples to oranges. you're looking at really bad photos with awful expressions and bad light when these folks are caught at their worst outside and highly stylized, retouched photos. those second photos have a lot more than makeup going on to improve them. If you saw the same women on the street, and not making a goofy expression, they'd look somewhere in the middle of the photos shown no matter if they were wearing makeup or not. if anything, it just shows how unrealistic our concept of beauty is.

also, camera lights tend to wash out facial features and lighting can flatten them, so one almost always require some sort makeup when geting photographed. the same retouching i mentioned above is done to men in photos and video, and male models and actors wear makeup right along with the women. to be honest, my job would be a lot easier if men would wear makeup and take better care of their skin and the like for photographs.

it is true, though, women are expected to have a much more complex beauty ritual than men.

It's weird how men seem to be much more accepting of cosmetic surgery, lots of them will say boob jobs are ok, yet make up isn't?

I like the Halle before picture. She's hot no matter what.

I was looking at the pimples several women had on their face and am figuring it was mostly dietary and then nerves.

Then the fact is that the cinema's pretty boys are also subject to before and after. You don't think they wear make up, think again.

As far as personal preference goes I like women with little to no make up who have the intestinal fortitude to work out to create a real sweat. It means they are mentally strong and will keep ageing at bay. Nothing ages you more than getting chubby. It is a twisted thing that women need fat to be fertile and that fat ages them so quickly. Men too, fat men look years older than they are if it is fat on the face.

Many women are beautiful without makeup. Often makeup makes a women look worse, IMO. Especially up close. Makeup usually only looks good on television or in photographs retouched for magazines. Guys on television use makeup, too. Women who feel they can't leave the house without "putting their face on" are just insecure, and usually have unrealistically negative feelings about the way they look.

There is an old song about the newly married couple undressing on their wedding night and she removes her:
    Makeup
    Girdle
    Padded bra
    Wig
    Artificial leg
    Glass eye
    Teeth

There may have been more items but I can't remember what or the name of the song, it was probably a country western song.

I find we are the way we are. Men and women. My sister has never worn makeup, she one of the most beautiful women I know. Women do not need makeup look beautiful, men do not need makeup ( some wear it). It is the fashion and film industry that tells women you have to be like this, I mean why be natural as you were intended to be, instead cover your face with gook and ruin your skin to look like someone your not, then go home at night to look like who you are after the crap comes off your face. WHY NOT JUST BE!! I understand it is required in film because of lights. It would be interesting to see a magazine do a spread with models or just regular men and women but no face or body makeup, to touchups on the photos. You'd be surprised at how these famous people look no different than the rest of us. I live in Bel Air. I see celebrities on a regular basis with and without "their faces". I think they (men and women) look better without the gook.

I am pro makeup, yup. Socially conditioned to be that way, and I think it does give women a leg up in beauty. However, I think men can be beautiful too, and have said so before on these boards. women are lucky that it is socially acceptable for them to be able to cover their flaws.

Good make-up should highlight attractive features and minimize unattractive features. Less is usually more. The best examples of cosmetics usage are in the movies. All those fresh-faces in the chick flicks have makeup without looking like they're wearing makeup. To do it right requires skill and most women don't learn how to use cosmetics properly.

I disagree that women get made-up especially for men because I know I've caught women putting on makeup for when other women come over to visit! I truly believe women go through everything they do to look good for other women.

Some men do use cosmetics but, short of goth rock stars and their ilk, I think it shows a lack of confidence. I hate wearing makeup for the theater productions I'm in. Eye liner, mascara, pancake, lipstick, rouges, UGH!! How do women wear this stuff every day??
