is there any reason, on this earth, why this complete fuckup, who does not care *AT ALL* about the potential consequences to others by his actions, should not be locked up for a couple of years?

and seriously, why doesn't a judge *THROW THE FUCKING BOOK AT HIM*

i really, honestly, hope that the judges who repeatedly let this scumbag get away with being a public danger, and slap him on the wrist, think about this, when this asshole *FINALLY* kills somebody with his car, or his friends car...

this guy is a fucking menace...if he wants to kill himself, fine, but have you ever seen someone so publicly flout any semblance of respect for just some *BASIC* societal laws, and get away with more?

*SERIOUSLY*...this crackhead, heroin addicted, serial drunk driver *WITHOUT A LICENSE* should be in prison...maybe that will wake him up, and the judges who keep doling out 1,000 pound fines to him should be fucking ashamed...

i hope he goes away for the rest of his life when he finally runs over and kills someone's child, or their grandmother, or mows down a mom with an infant...

and i hope the judges who have allowed this farce to go on, get the cell right next to his...

how much longer can this madness last?

he BRINGS DRUGS IN TO COURT WHERE HE IS GETTING OFF SCOT-FREE *AGAIN* for driving drunk and high on heroine and god knows what else on the *SIDEWALK*...the drugs fall out, in court, where he is then, arrested, again...and, no doubt, he will be fined and let off the hook *AGAIN*

isn't there honestly some type of civic/public menace clause that the good citizens of London can enact to protect themselves from this disaster waiting to happen, who does not care at all what he is doing?

put this pathetic "star" in jail.

Becasue he's a "celebrity"....and a worthless peice of dog shite. Apparently that gets you out of trouble.

I think double standards are ridiculous.

well, but this is more than celebrity...even Paris Hilton, who, while a complete idiot, has done far less than Doherty, was eventually, properly punished.

this is madness...and it is not like he is a huge movie star or athlete who just made one error.

he is a fucking crackhead...

just look at how completely oblivious he is

Not wanting to be photographed with Ms Whitbread, Mr Doherty said that he just drove off as fast as he could. He saw the flashing lights of the police car behind him but didn’t think that they were for him.

“During the gig he said that he had been provided with half a bottle of rum when he went on stage and that it was probably empty when the gig finished. However, although he admitted that he had probably had enough to drink to make him over the limit, he didn’t think it would impair him in any way.”

Doherty had earlier admitted to two counts of drugs possession, driving without a licence and without insurance, as part of the same episode. The judge was waiting until today’s pleas were entered before dealing with all the offences together.

The court heard Doherty had 21 previous drug offences and six previous motoring offences. He had no convictions for driving.

Doherty’s defence barrister Peter Ratliff asked for a financial penalty, which Judge Martin Picton said was “proportionate to the offence”.

How, i ask, Judge Martin Picton is a 1,000 pound fine or so, "proportionate to the offence"?

As much as i dislike the guy there is an 'in fairness' point to make here.

This is endemic through the system and his notoriety, celebrity status is like a spotlight on the judicial system. There are plenty of unknown Joe Bloggs that can stay out of jail with crimesheets as long as your arm because the government wants to keep people out of jail because they are overcrowded.

A logical person might say then build another jail but government is government, they always know best... :thumbsdown2:

he hant been punished by the jusdges but he is pretty much lost all respect in the music scene that he was once prince of.

well, i am not for putting drug users in prison...but he is far more dangerous than your run of the mill drug user...he is a dangerous menace with regards to his flaunting of not just the basic laws (like having a license) but the more serious ones...such as reckless endangerment (or something of that sort)

if he cannot go to prison because the jails are full, maybe he can be put under some type of house arrest, with one of those anklets.

this man should not be let outside for quite awhile, and he should *NEVER* be allowed to have a driver's license again due to his history of offence, and the likelihood of his continued drug use.

he should be allowed a bike...and nothing more.

he is a total menace.

If you can afford a £5K a day barrister judges only send you to prison if you have offended their political bosses. Britain is moving slowly back to the judicial system of the 18th and 19th centuries when poor people were not allowed to give evidence if they were in the dock. How many psychopathalogical celebrities, footballers, police officers you know who will be spending Xmas in prison.
