Just had an outpatient gall bladded removal surgery. Haven't had much interest in things sexual yet - after a week. Just interested in other peoples experiences in more serious medical issues and how long before you had sex or jacked off. Think I might see if it still works tonight!

Just try handling your dick to see how it responds. Once it starts to get hard, you're on your way!
At least, that's how it works for me!
I'm a horny bastard. If my dick responds, I'm ready to try anything!

I had surgery in feb had infection and I'm still on home iv.. I can't last as long on all these meds and my hard ons are about a half inch shorter we've been calculating my hard ons.. I'm a constant 8+ and I've been 7.5 or a tad bit over every time. Just keep hope and pain meds are the worst for getting in the mood.

Last year, I broke my both leggs ( 1 open, with several fractures ) caused by a motorcycle accident.
Stayed almost 2 months in hospital and 12 weeks of intensive revalidation at home ( every workday ).
Well in hospital I was not in the mood for sex, not 1 moment. Don't remember that I had 1 erection.
Probably due to pain killers, antibiotica and sometimes sleeping pills.
Once at home, the mood came bit by bit, and the unvoluntary erections were a good indication for that.

bluepony, 1 week after a serious surgery is just too soon for your body... and for most of us...

After a motorcycle accident when I was 25, I was in the hospital for about a month.
I broke one wrist (left), shattered the other, (my right), and had a compound fracture of my right femur. It's the biggest bone in your body, and the hardest one to break, but I did it, and it was sticking out of my leg, to boot!
While in the hospital I couldn't get out of bed and was Foley catheterized, (the tube through your dick into your bladder so you can pee). I kinda liked it because I could feel myself peeing and could watch it flow into a bedside bag. The good part was, I didn't have to get up out of bed to pee.
My ex-GF came in to visit me, who I always had great sex with when we were together. I would slide my hands under her top and feel her tits. Naturally, this made me hard as a rock. BAD IDEA!!!
Having a boner with a catheter is SO PAINFUL!!! They aren't designed for that kind of use! I had to show her how hard she still made me and that made her REAL happy. It also made me sleep better, knowing I was going to get some when I got out of the hospital.
After a week or two, they removed the catheter, My ex-GF came to visit and I lifted the sheets, with a boner just to show her how I was feeling. She pulled the curtain around the bed and proceeded to give me one of the best blow jobs I have ever gotten!
After going without sex for a few weeks, she gave me the sweet relief I needed. I was in heaven. 30 seconds after she finished, the nurse came in to check my vitals.
She asked me if I was ok, because I looked flushed. All I could say was "Really, I don't know why!"
I think the nurse suspected what just happened, but kept cool about it. I'm sure she encountered situations like that in her past.
The point I'm trying to make, albeit long-winded, is that I am, by nature, an extremely horny guy and even though I went through a devastating and traumatic accident, with great bodily harm, I was optimistic, mainly because I lived through it! I was just so happy to be alive and I was repairable!
And, I was still a horny motherfucker as soon as I was able to get hard again!
When I got out of the hospital after about a month, the first thing I did was talk my ex into coming over. Despite having casts on both arms and walking with crutches as well, I still managed to spend a weekend in bed with her and I remember cumming and cumming and cumming all weekend long! We sucked and fucked until we both passed-out from exhaustion. She told me that despite being banged in the head with my casts, she said it was some of the most energetic and enjoyable sex she ever had with me. I couldn't have agreed more.
And we still continued to be FWB's for years afterward, until I moved away and eventually got married.

For some reason, an injury or pain medication usually makes me really horny. A while back I shattered the upper part of my tibia and chipped off a piece of the femur where they meet. I had to have surgery to have pins and a titanium plate put in. I stayed in the hospital overnight after the surgery and was on IV dilaudid that you could press the button for every 6 min and I remember that although that leg was still completely numb all the way up to my butt crack, I still had a huge flaccid going and kept getting erections. I was on painkillers for about 2 months after that summer and remember being very horny and jerking off a lot. Since then, the occasional times I've been prescribed a painkiller I've gotten hard as soon as I feel it hit me. I think this may be because I have a lot of anxiety issues so when something suddenly lessens the anxiety, such as an opiate, it has a stimulating effect on me.

@danjs :
Well a very strange effect, but as you said, you've anxiety issues.
Some people get very horny after a few drinks, while others fall to sleep.

Opiate-based painkillers such as codeine and morphine suppress the libido (the lust). A study published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism found that almost 95 per cent of men and 68 per cent of women receiving opioid medicine long term reported a decreased sex drive.
And if you google a bit - you will read that all painkillers will reduce sensitivity, that's what they are made for.
