What are you thoughts on the topic. It's a multi billion business worldwide. Should it stop?

Human Trafficking Is an Epidemic in the U.S. It's Also Big Business
I see it similar to the marijuana question..where for years the solution should have just been to make it legal to make the adjoining illegal activities unnecessary. So yes we should stop human trafficking, but we're only going to really make inroads on it when sex work has a legal and safe venue to operate from...but doing so also upends a lot of the moral superiorities and competitive advantages people take from the demonizing of sex work/workers and the social shaming of partaking of sex work/workers.

Even if you legalize sex work, it will always be cheaper to import young foreign women and withhold their passports making them "work" to pay off your cost of bringing them here, which of course they don't know the cost so you have them indentured indefinitely and pay them vastly less then legal citizens doing the job.

There was anther great thread on this topic a little while ago. Unfortunately, some people still confuse the terms sex workers, and sex traffickers. One is consensual, and the other is human slavery.

I participated in that thread and gave my opinion in it, so I won't go into too much detail. However, for those that are still unsure of how to differentiate what a sex worker is, and a sex trafficker, this link may help.

"The trafficking of women and children into sexual slavery is undeniably a gross abuse of human rights. It involves coercion or trickery or both."

"Treating sex work as if it is the same as sex trafficking both ignores the realities of sex work and endangers those engaged in it. Sex workers include men and women and transgendered persons who offer sexual services in exchange for money. Sex workers engage in prostitution for many reasons, but the key distinction here is that they do it voluntarily. They are not coerced or tricked into staying in the business but have chosen this from among the options available to them."

And again to refer to the marijuana example..it is still "cheaper" for drug dealers via violent cartels to import and transport weed for street sales...but the consumer(especially here in the US) has proven time and time again we will pay extra for convenience, variety, and legal safety. I personally live in a state that has legalized recreationally and have no issues paying that much more of a mark up. Yes it gets me access to a wider variety of product, it also allows me to price out quality...but really just knowing I can walk/drive past a police officer without a fear of some possession charge is worth the price.
So what'll probably happen sooner rather than later is criminal organizations that dabble in sex work(via sex trafficking) will find their public clientele largely gone, and they can either double down to try to fight it..or get into a different venture to remain profitable.

While good followers of faiths continue to turn a blind eye to the problem it will continue, its not just a US problem its world wide. While underage marriage is condoned, honour killings swept under the table and religious leaders pander to the "old ways" then it will continue.
First you have to have a countrywide. worldwide consensus on what is underage and then be prepared to prosecute
Now which US State is it that allows child marriages?

I think the distinction between sex work and sex trafficking is important in sor far as the trafficking is always trickery and abusive. But there is also a correlation between sex work and drug use that some who may have entered that line of work find it hard to move on should they want to. Perhaps that is due to organised crime being a common factor between sex work and drug trafficking.
