New Sexual Misconduct Allegations Surface Against Scott Lobdell

Scott Lobdell is the latest comic boo writer to be accused of sexual misconduct. He seems to use his status to find victims and groom them for sexual relationships later.

This has happened to a lot of writers and artists recently. Some very big names, like Warren Ellis, have been accused of sexual misconduct. By some accounts this kind of stuff is common in the comics industry and on the convention circuit.

Has anyone here been following this news? What steps do you think can be taken to protect women in the comics business from these predators?

DC Comics Writer Magdalene Visaggio Accuses Sean Gordon Murphy Of "Lovebombing" - Bounding Into Comics

This is kind of interesting. Magdalene Visaggio is accusing a Sean Gordon Murphy of lovebombing. Not of any kind of assault or grooming, but of showing her a lot of attention and promising financial and professional help, but then not really following through. According to her, he never said that he wanted to touch her or be sexual, but she claims that he did use her.

This is an odd one. I'm not sure what to think of this. Should this kind of issue be publicized?

She claims Murphy is guilty of using empty promises and affection as blandishment. There's nothing wrong with showing someone affection and obviously Murphy isn't guilty of sexual misconduct. Please focus on vaild examples of such misconduct wallyj84.

I agree that it isn't sexual misconduct, but it is being brought in that same discussion among comic book nerd circles.it definitely isn't a coincidence that she brought up these accusations right now.

The comic book nerds/incel vin diagram is pretty much a perfect circle. Like any other aspect of art/entertainment industry those in power tend to abuse it.

Changing the culture of comic books will not come from within the community. Gamer boys and sci-fi/horror movie buffs are notoriously anti-women unless the women in question are getting their tits out.

Open hostilities, attempts to push women out of fan and creator space are a given. Women driven projects are typically shredded by the fanboys and some critics.

Women are going to have to solve this issue themselves. The web is helping more women put out more content independent of the big publishing companies. If ally dudes want to help? Support artists and publishers. Call out shit when you see it happening.

It isn't a perfect circle. No where near all comic nerds are incels. A significant portion are MRAs and incels, but not all.
