Does anyone know of a specialty field of medicene that concentrates on sexual problems? I've tried a urologist but their training is so diverse it's hard to find one that specilizes in sexual problems. Mine are relaltivly minor right now but if there is away of treating them it would be great. To get specific- lack of ejaculation (probably related to meds), lack of penile sensation and low libido. Age has something to do with it also ( 65 years ). Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
Did your urologist do a test (sorry, can't recall the name) of your penile sensitivity? They use a special vibrator with variable settings, touching it to different areas of your penis and asking whether you can feel it at a given setting. This can determine if, and to what extent you may have sensitivity problems. If he/she didn't perform this test, I'd be asking why.
When you say lack of ejaculation, do you mean no rhythmic muscle contraction, or no emission of semen? It's quite normal to have a marked decrease in semen as we age, and meds do affect this too. Look up the side effects of your meds. A lack of muscle contraction during orgasm is a different issue entirely.
Low libido: Meds are a definite possibility. Any anti-anxiety, anti-depressant, or anti-seizure meds? That's just one common type, but many others can affect libido. A blood test with emphasis on testosterone and estrogen levels should have been ordered by your urologist. This is standard urology stuff.
Your urologist should be well-versed in all of this without being a specialist (beyond urology). It might be time to shop doctors.
