depends what type of sexy your looking for, but with my ex girlfriend we would put on AEnima and Maynard James Keenan and the boys from Tool would have me in this tantric like state while the whole album was just on repeat....

Tori Amos also does that to me..

I'll like you, you're special.

Anyone who loves Tori and Tool knows good music.

Edit- Rufus Wainwright is adorable, if his music is less-than-genius, he gets a pass from me. Speaking of musical genius, how about Jonsi from Sigur Ros? I read of review of them once that called his voice the "Liquid gold voice of God".

She died from a heart attack, she didn't choke to death. That's just a myth. :)

As for my choice of sexy voices:

Melissa Etheridge
Sarah McLachlan
Cass Elliot (The Mamas and Papas have to be one of my fave groups of all time but i think it was Cass' voice that carried them)
Stevie Nicks (gotta love her)
Sarah Brightman
Patsy Cline
Beth Hart
Etta James
Wynonna Judd
Rob Thomas (of matchbox 20)
James Blunt
Josh Gracin
Tim Mcgraw
Daniel Powter
Kenny Rogers

I just love female singers with husky or rough voices, several of whom have already been mentioned. (SO glad to hear someone else who appreciates Mavis Staples!) Although her music is total crap, Joss Stone has that quality as well.

But I just LOVE Joan Osborne's voice. That raw, throaty, blues-mama sound really gets to me in all the right places.

And the wailers like Chaka, Dionne Farris, Caron Wheeler, and Nikka Costa too.

As for men, if we're talking vocalists, I like the soulful ones like Luther (of course), Terence Trent D'Arby, D'Angelo, Prince, James Ingram, Maxwell, etc. Men who aren't afraid of a little falsetto work.

I saw her live a couple times. She's my favorite jazz singer.

Cool,

My voice has dropped considerably since I was in undergrad, so that may very well happen. I cant wait to hear your voice! So what does your speaking voice sounds like? I have been told by a number of members here that I could have my own 976 line! LOL! It came from having a bunch of husky voiced women in my family. I think vocal timbre does run in families...

A simple question: Which singers, male and female, do have what you consider a sexy voice? For me it's Angela Basset, Linda Ronstadt, Emmilou Harris, Cass Elliott, Nancy Sinatra, Suzi Quatro (girls), and for the guys it's Eric Burdon, Billy Ray Cyrus, Louis Armstrong, Sam Cooke, Mark Knopfler, Lou Reed, Ray Davies...

Deeper singing (and speaking) voices are sexier regardless of gender.
Witness Cher who has a very deep voice that is still very feminine.
With apologies to Cyndi Lauper !
