I'm not sure that the words "adorable" and "cute" are likely to be applied to Gerard Kearns (the UK Ian) or Jody Latham (the UK Lip). :biggrin1: I guess that they've been "prettied up" for US consumption.

Presumably the US is using the same storylines as we had in the early series, if the full Gallagher family is present. It seems strange that they are rehashing storylines that are around eight years old.

yeah i was talking about the US version, but i have seen the first season of the UK version too. I'm not sure which i like better yet but i hope the US version takes on a different route soon. Also, what i meant by the question was the situation he's (or both are) in... with the whole being outed situation by a friend and stuff (cheating, lying, girls...) and everything he's been going through? I guess the question applies to both versions of the show...

I think they're starting to deviate from the UK series finally. I know the first few episodes matched up almost exactly, but they finally introduced Mickey and skipped a few years/seasons on that. No dog either, don't know how that would've done over here lol

I like the UK version much better. I dont think Ian is all that cute on the American version. I like Ian's personality alot better on the UK.

one good part where they refrence it is when the wife finds out her husband was getting boned by ian i think she saw it on the new camera they put in the store
i forget exactly what she said but it was along the lines of the faces the husband was makeing ian had to be big,
its been a while since i have seen the episode but when she finds out her husbands been cheating with the boy she forbids them haveing sex till she gets knocked up again and ian starts to sleep with that bully kid thats the brother of the girl he is useing as a cover story to not be totally out
sorry im being kinda hazy in my recollections but i dont know episode numbers or names they show reruns sometimes maybe one of you guys can catch it on showtime

my fave part in the series so far was the 1st episode where ian goes into the neighbors home and sees steve howey naked !!!!!!!!

it's a great show, strangely the UK version never really took with me. Mcavoy is cute and all but the US reboot is just wicked funny. Ian is adorkable!

Up to the last series I'd have agreed - but I think that this current UK series of 22 eps (now taking a break mid-series until August) has been downright lousy. There have been a few good moments but not many.

Chesney serves no useful purpose now, the Gallaghers have been emasculated since little Liam went at the start of the series, I really didn't want to see Mrs Doyle's tits this week biggrin1 and the never-ending Mickey Maguire storyline is long past its sell by date - it's time that he was outed or came out to give a different dynamic to the storylines. Bring back some of the comedy copper storylines for a bit of variety.

Once upon a time, as well, you'd only get the odd "c*nt" thrown in for effect, this series there seems to be a deliberate attempt to get two or three in every episode, which is just childish and the media trying to push what is socially acceptable.

All in all I think that the series has run its course and needs to be put out of its misery. Normally Channel 4 know when to pull the plug, like they did with "Teachers", before it became a pastiche of itself. I'd rather remember "Shameless" at its best than the current weak offerings.
