Since I joined this site a few months ago, I've noticed just how many guys in the US, who have classified themselves as straight, are completely shaved. Although I personally clip my pubes and shave my balls, I would say that by comparison, if you looked around a gym or swimming pool changing room here in the UK, you wouldn't generally see any guys with completely shaved pubes. How is it for you guys in the US in communal changing areas? Do shaved guys attact any attention or is it considered 'normal'.... would love to hear your views.

I'd agree with that. Any male with a shaved bush in a 'straight' changing room in the UK would get some very strange looks.

Like yourself, I always trim my pubes with a pair of nail scissors, to keep things tidy down there. I'm not keen on taking scissors or an electric razor near my scrotum, though, I've nicked myself too many times! Careful pruning only. :biggrin1:

I think the internet is a deceiving place. While I don't stare when changing in locker rooms, I can still tell whether someone is shaved or not out of the corner of my eye. Really, I have not seen that many completely shaven guys, and I think they would get some strange looks. Point being, I think the difference is due to the fact that people who post pictures on the internet are somewhat of a subculture.

Luckily, I'm not a very hairy person in the first place...but I shave my pubes anyway. I'm completely clean shaven down there. I can't stand hairy crotches, it's gross; it causes more sweat and it's more likely to smell down there. In my opinion, everybody - males and females - should shave their shit.

I do agree that generally speaking there has been no great change in the numbers of men shaving their pubic area, but I do think more men are "manscaping" now, then 10 or 15 years ago.

Having shaved balls is still considered a little edgy, but this depends on age. We see it a lot in porn, and the 20-somethings consider it as cool as tattoos and body piercing. So, I think that in 10 years or less, it'll be considered quite mainstream.

Of course, then it'll lose its coolness.

Having all pubic hair shaved is considered a little strange. But no one in a locker room would dare say anything about it. LOL

In the 21 century men in general are more aware about how they look. I think shaving and clipping has nothing to do with your sexual preference.
At my gym I see also straight guys, older and younger with shaved genitals and/or trimmed pubes. The ones with the natural look - the bush around the penis - are becoming rare.

I shave. I like the feel and the look, but also think it's seen as something odd by many men especially in gyms and things. However, same men do like women to be trimmed etc. Another great double standard. Don't know about differences between US and UK, and would imagine similar attitudes in both places

I shave the beans and the shaft at least daily, but I'm quite hairy and full shaved looks silly, so I leave a pair of Side-Burns and don't shave to the navel or anything.

It'd be like painting one wall of a room, you'd have to do the others or it would appear odd.

If there was a relatively painless and inexpensive way of getting a whole body/legs shave, I'd love to try it.

A lot of Scandinavian countries I've been to - they all give their groin a full shave.

It's strange at first to be in a locker room surrounded bu men and boys of all ages with completely smooth pubic regions.

I asked why and was told that officially, it's a hygiene issue as so many of them share baths and saunas etc. But one guy told me the real reason is cuz it makes oral sex more pleasureable - LOL.

My wife told me that all the girls and women were similarly hair free in the ladies changing rooms.

That was 15 years ago and I took my cue.

Can't imagine having hairy bollocks, now, and have persuaded Jay and Su to do the same.

Bud.

PS. Do you guys really think I'm considered gay cuz of my shaved balls in my UK gym?

I also favour the Freddie Mercury arm-less vest to show my arms off when working out, too.

I shave regularly the whole region, but sometimes I just trim it, it depends on mood, I guess.
It all started with a flatmate from Sweden, he told me he shaved his balls so his gf would have it easy when sucking him :biggrin1: , I thought it would be "dangerous" to shave my genitals, but I gave it a try, and liked it, so I kept that costume with me.

Actually, I was going to initiate a thread on hairy arm pits, what do you think of that? (in men) I don't shave there, although I have, specially when I was more into bodybuilding some 10 years ago.
A couple of times I have shaved my whole body, but as an english gf told me once, I have the perfect balance of body hair, meaning I am not that hairy, I don't have hair in chest, belly or back, but my legs are hairy.

In winter I don't shave my body or legs, but I can imagine in the near future, we (men) will be shaving everything on a regular basis...maybe

Most of the guys at the gym where I go do not shave. I have seen very few men who have shaved. Maybe one or two completely shaved-no hair. I have seen a few who apparently trim (or shave the region) around the penis.

This is a University gym....most of the young men are all natural. The ones who have shaved are generally in their late 20 or 30s. Some even a little older.

When I was younger I liked the shaved look. My wife loved going down on me when I shaved. I only showered once in a group setting when I was shaved. It was after a 10k race and I didn't think about it. I was walking up to a free shower head and the guy next to me got huge eyes and pretty much stared at my dick while I showered. I actually finished before him.

I was surprised last fall while taking a lifeguard instructor course. There were two younger classmates and one was completely shaved the other had trimmed himself a landing strip. From their conversations they both talked about their girl friends. But that may have been for my benefit.
