I usually just wear a pair of shorts at home. I live in an apartment and don't have a door that goes out to the street, so I would definitely put on a shirt before leaving my apartment.
I don't think that I would want to be shirtless at home in front of others, anyway, except maybe on a particularly warm day. It would just feel weird to be home in the winter (northeast US) without a shirt and with guests in the house.
