What are some examples of extreme ignorance you've encountered?

For me, when I told someone I was going to live in Japan they asked me, "do they have buildings there?"

The saddest part is that I got that question multiple times. In fact, I remember one person telling me that Japan doesn't have buildings, while having the biggest smirk on his face.

How about you?

When I told people in Georgia that I'm from New Mexico they told me I speak good English and asked to see my green card. : unamused:

And yes, they told me "you speak English good". They were family of the friend who took me on the trip so I didn't want to be rude, or I would have said "I can't say the same for you, unfortunately".

I'll take 'Shocking Displays of Ignorance' for $500...

What is... Every word Trump has spoken since, I don't, when he spoke his first word.

What year did he turn 7? Pretty sure his pre-verbal communication methods were mainly through exaggerated facial expressions and random lunges at various women's vaginas.

ETA: Trump's first word? Bigly.

Americans are very ignorant of our own country and history.

In college I knew people who had never heard of the Indian Wars or even the Articles of Confederation. Shocking!

So my parents lived in Zambia in the 1970s, at that time the last bastion of black rule before white-dominated Rhodesia, Namibia and South Africa. I was born in the UK but grew up with their stories and, in particular, slides of Africa.

At infant school we had World Day or somesuch and I decided to go as a little African boy, which, as far as I could work out, involved shorts, a t-shirt and no shoes.

So I went to school and everyone was like, "WTF are you supposed to be??" and when I explained they said I should have a grass skirt on and bones through my nose.

Mind you, that was 35 years ago but it stuck.

No. These people just thought that everyone in Japan was living in huts or something. It was a shockingly common opinion people in my home state seemed to have about all non-white foreign countries.

I don't even understand how people could think that. Media is saturated with images of Japanese cities as the city of the future *blink*

Are they unaware of Anime?

Netflix has Anime

Keep in mind this was 15 years ago, but you're right.

The funniest thing was the look of disbelief one guy had when I told him that Japan does in fact have buildings. He argued with me for a bit until someone else told him that Japan has buildings.

folk, don't appear to have even a fraction of common sense/aka virtual ignorance, for fellow persons

ie
living on the same property
someone can get monthly medication from there chemist
another gets a similar monthly script filled, and does not drive now
a matter of an 8 dollar per month rural delivery fee

no,i dont think i need to ask/in fact i did mention it/once is enough
one would think an 'offer' be made
but no' mmmm,unfortunate

How about you?

Last week...NBA's Hassan Whiteside remarking "...fuck America bro I'm moving to Hawaii".

Now if he spelled it Hawai'i...then it could be reference to the island, not the state. So maybe other countries like Kona or Hilo could be in the works. Like San Marino or Vatican City, ...countries within an island.

Mahalo Hassan!...ride left brah!
