Very gay friendly on her shows.
How To Get Away With Murder, Scandal and Grey's Anatomy.
Hot actors on all three shows. Different races and colors.
Scandal has an out gay actor on the show.
A main character on How To Get Away With Murder is gay.
Grey's Anatomy had a gay soldier on it once. The bartender is gay on that show too.
Scandal has had gay characters too.

Just goes to show that television is getting real about the population. But, still, many of the gay characters of her shows are also the most evil at heart. Not exactly good role models for today's youth... But, that's entertainment for you!

I loved yesterday's episode of How to get away with murder (episode 4, season 1), the gay sex scene was great, I loved it, I'd expect it from HBO, but ABC? on Tv's biggest night, wow! It was something. And because, unfortunately of course!!! people are not used to "big gay story lines" on tv, on film or even in real life, I started to think "ok, they are going too far with this gay character" but no, not really, I'd never think that if it were a straight character, it's fucked up, I know, hopefully one day people won't need to refer to a character as gay.

As a gay man, of course I'm trilled, not only because I get to watch hot guys on tv, but because it's out there, for millions of people to watch and possibly be happy with it and think "ok, there are gay people out there, I'm glad" or "I'm happy to see gay characters in a big tv show in an unapologetic way".

I also loved the last scene, Viola Davis taking off her make up, revealing her real skin tone, which is much darker au natural, before that she also takes off her wig, revealing a very different hair situation, a lot of black women struggle with their hair, I felt like it made me look at her and think "she's black" and successful but she still struggles, I honestly have a hard time differentiating races, after a while if you don't tell me or ask me, I can't if you're red or green or whatever, I also have a hard time figuring out if someone is mixed race, maybe I just don't care, I really don't, but it was nice to see her exposing herself in such a way, maybe the character needs look a certain way to feel empowered, maybe she needs to look whiter (straight hair, a lighter skin tone) we like to pretend that people are all treated fairly but a woman is still considered lucky to be successfully and the same applies to a black person :/ and gay people of course.

It's great to see characters on television these days, of diverse races, gender, sexuality, and background that are not stereotypical. It's like TV has grown up finally. The writing is so much better, and more real than in the past. Writers these days no longer have to walk on eggshells and stick to stereotypes, nor be so politically correct that their characters are boring blank slates. They can create people that are both good and bad... Like real people are.

It's an improvement, and much more entertaining. Plus, with television serials, we actually get to know the "character" of the characters, and of their relationships to each other, as opposed to the writing of most movies, where it is just a 90 minute "slam, bam, thank you, mam", and over, for $11 bucks a pop.

(Mods... Perhaps this thread should be moved to Et Cetera, Et Cetera, since it isn't about celebrity endowments?)

I completely agree with this. Shonda Rhimes/ABC dont seem to be afraid to bring damn near hardcore gay sex to the local TV. Plus her shows are actually diverse.

I must say I'm a bit surprised at even some the dialogue that gets through.

For example: Scandal (paraphrasing the lines)
Cyrus: I don't pay for sex.
Male Escort: Wouldn't you like to replace that lump in your throat with something more filling!

Oh, and anything on How to Get Away with Murder! Now that's a show thats pushing the boundaries.
