sorry if I’m posting this in the wrong thread. I wasn’t sure what category this should go under.

Recently I’ve been thinking about joining onlyfans and posting content to make some extra money and truthfully because it seems like fun.

I’ve talked with my boyfriend about this and he’s supportive of me doing it if I decide to.

My only holdup is the potential that it could come back to haunt me with future employers. I plan on gogo dancing and working in a dispensary once I move to Los Angeles. My longterm goal is to stay in the cannabis industry or to be a songwriter or photographer. I would prefer not to work a regular 9-5 and I don’t have any plans on going back to college.

Any advice on if doing onlyfans is a bad idea? Also, for safety would it be a good idea to not use my real legal name?

Thanks in advance for your answers and advice.

Hi there

I've also thought of the same but I've always been in the 9 to 5 job/corporate setting hence I've not done it. I guess what I'm trying to say is you'll never know if in the future you'll have a change of heart and start a career in the corporate world or even run your own business. I just always remember that once it goes on the internet, it stays there forever.

Best of luck and I hope you make a wise decision

Everyone thinks they're going to make "money" and that it will be "fun" but the reality is that only 10% of the people make $1300 or more a month. Therefore, you'll probably only make a few hundred dollars a month and will get a 1099 which means in reality you'll make less than that. Furthermore, you have to keep creating content and frankly, the only people who make money are posting porn several times a week. You have a treat it like a business which requires consistency. The novelty of it wears off FAST.

If you want to do it for exhibitionist reasons, have at it, but if you think you're gonna make "money", the odds are against you.

Making an OF account doesn't guarantee anything, there's still hard work to do to attract subscribers.
Plus if you value your reputation for your long term goal, don't make an OF.

Let me clarify, apparently people are under the impression that I assume I'm going to be really successful on OnlyFans and make a lot of money from it which I do not expect at all. I am very well aware of this. My post said as a way to make some extra money, as in some side cash. If it made a lot then cool, but I'm not looking to get rich from OnlyFans.

Please, I'm only looking for supportive feedback that answers my questions which seemed to have been completely overlooked by most people responding.

1. If I do an only fans should I use my legal name or not?

2. In 2019 could this still be detrimental to me in regards to future employers finding out? The industries I want to work in are as follows... cannabis, gogo dancing, songwriting, and photography. I don't plan on working in the medical field or around children. Thank you.

I'm not looking to get rich. I highly doubt I'm going to become OnlyFans famous. It would just be for fun and some extra side money. The reason I made this thread was to get advice on the questions that I asked which have nothing to do with money at all.

You’d have to invest in good camera equipment, be very creative and thoughtful with your content, & really work on editing to produce more interesting long form videos than what’s currently out there. I unsubscribed from many promising OF accounts when the videos are just boring and short

Firstly I'd say because you are male, unless you are a famous adult film star, you will not make that much money. Women are the ones that really benefit from it.

That being said you could still make something. as long as you know that it will be out there for everyone theoretically to see.

Don't use your real name. One of my friends she's in university like myself and she has made an only fans to help get some extra money. But that's all it is it's not really a separate source of income. She also doesn't do nudes on it so it also depends on the content you upload

Also, I have a Twitter account with around 40,000 followers and a background in digital marketing so I am confident that I'd at least have a good platform to start from.
If you have that I'd say start from there that's a good base I'm pretty sure it can be liked to your twitter so you could use your twitter username but if you don't want to that's cool as well my friend doesn't use the same name as her twitter.

Someone said you don't have to show you face but I'm sure you have to send a picture of your id to them to verify that you are of legal age. So your face may not get out but the only fans company will have your picture. If you're cool with do it.

You're clearly young, which is not a slam at you, so unless you're psychic, you have no idea who your "future employers" will be. A go-go dancing pothead songwriter who takes pictures is not something you'll be doing for a living in your 50's. If those are your current goals, then no, an OF account won't be an issue. However, you might decide poverty isn't your thing and you'll want a stable job and then it might come back to bite you in the ass. Life is all about choices and the repercussions of some of our choices aren't manifested until years later. If you're concerned, it would be best to err on the side of caution and not create one.

The angle guys never think of is that'll meet someone they're crazy about but their OF past will be a deal breaker for the guy. Not many guys want a porn star as their boyfriend. I understand you currently have a supportive bf but ask anyone who's been around the sun a bunch of times and they will tell you boyfriends can quickly change their minds.

Oh, and of course don't use your real name.
