Should incest be decriminalised?

Following on from another thread. Now we are in the 21st century do you think that the illegal status of incest should be removed?
If you think its not so simple as a yes or no then feel free to elaborate.

If it is two consenting adults, where there is no power dynamic, mental illness, or pedopheilia (which falls into WAY inappropriate)...then I couldn't care what people do in their personal life.

I think you start getting into trouble when one person is forcing another to do something they wouldn't otherwise do.

Nope - the reasons against it are still valid, even in the 21st century.

Inbreeding produces genetic disorders - plus it leaves people much more exposed to abuse within families.

You see, regardless of morality issues we don't necessarily see it as being all that bad and so decriminalising it would at least stop the punishment of it which some would think is unfair.

Ahh ok, hmmm personally if your above the age of consent I think you should be able to do whatever you want in your bedroom. Just because I find something unsavory does not give me the right to punish people for it.

I misread the decriminalising part I don't think people should go to jail. Thats their decision.

i think the only circumstances where incest wouldn't be constituent with abuse is if it were equal ages/equal maturity/equally sexually experienced. so probably a slim number of cases meet that definition.

so in the case of the twins in my fantasy 3 way, it shouldn't be a crime.

Incest is illegal in the United States and Canada and some other countries. In the U.S. it is considered a crime. A felony. No it should not be decriminalised. If anything they should make the penalty more severe. Perhaps castration would be a more suitable penalty if the person committing the crime is a man. If it's a woman something along the same lines.
