Barely Legal, Sometimes Mature: Should Porn Raise the Minimum Age to 21?
another interesting article, again following my own views and rather one sided, but non the less offers some very valid points.
I see her point of view... but i have to stand on the "side" that that's just one former porn star's opinion about how she possibly regrets getting into the business because "Now she'll probably be known for nothing else other than being Aurora Snow..."
The two Directors / Agents she mentions who don't like hiring 18 yr. Olds anymore probably have their reasons. But as she even stated in the article... they sure as hell use to hire 18 yr olds in mass before they changed their minds...
Only they could say... "Why".... they truly changed their personal policy. In the article Aurora mentions or eludes to the idea that they told her they did it because they only want to work with "mentally mature" women who have a passion for sex and porn.... what that sounds like to me is (Possibly)....
They've been dealing with a shit ton of crying 18 yr. Old budding porn actresses over the years who were only in it for the money in the sense of...
"Until i can pay off my college student loans / pay my way through college"....
And either by the time the actresses they're calling "not mature enough" reached that point... on the path to "that point".... or shortly after getting hired and doing some work, these chicks realized...
"Wow... maybe sucking cock and taking dicks up my ass for hundreds of dollars a video wasn't really what i wanted to do and be immotalized for in the eyes of my family, friends, and future employers that i WILL have to disclose this to since it IS a job and something that could reflect on my future company due to my being associated with them

...."
And then they up and quit... and said director and porn agency gets to deal with allllll the fall out of it. Both from a relationship with the actress stand point, and indeed the financial stand point.... (This is a business)
They probably just got sick of dealing with the grief, and regret, and of course the loss of a "promising young talent" that they just wasted work hours to build up as the "next big thing" of the genre...
Imagine if Kimmy Granger, Piper Perri, or Kenzie Reeves just up and quit after how enormously HUGE the porn industry beefed up their reputations in the business and genre. Probably thousands if not millions of dollars in videos and advertising would've been wasted on making them the "faces" of the Teen and Barely Legal genres during their "up-swing", as well as the loss of "projected profits to be made" from their staying involved in the industry while they still have their youthful looks...
These hotties turned 18, gained access to being a part of the industry, and then made their own "responsible decision" for themselves...
They as "adults" are Legally accountable only to themselves in the sense of... making sure they are thinking about, and considering the consequences that becoming associated with, or taking part in, mainstream pornography can have on their personal and professional futures / what doors may open or close to them upon making that decision...
In an article i just found while researching Aurora (No clue if it's reputable)...
Aurora Snow Biography
.... apparently she spent a... "Long time".... talking with Elite Veteran Porn Star of the Vivid Agency Jenna Jameson talking porn and the porn industry before making her choice.... And after this long period of talking and discussing it with her.... she agreed to join the industry... and became Aurora Snow...
.... a decision she may have come to regret... but if this article holds truth, i dare say she...
"Jumped in with both eyes open..."
I can't see an elite porn star like Jenna Jameson lying to Rebecca or tricking her into joining the industry back then.
Was the money for college a driving force that influenced her decision? Sure.
But... unless shes stupid, she certainly knew full well what being a part of and in Porn Videos could do to her image and reputation in all aspects. And I'm sure Jenna would've told her...
But just because she walked through one of MAAAAAANNNNNY doors that are open to Beautiful Females to make money from... and ended up regretting it... and even if there is a population base that are in the same boat... like my prior post and this one combined can be "heard" saying.
They're 18... they're considered "Mature Adults" in the eyes of the Law, the World, and Science & History. They made their choice as an adult to do what they did, and they have to deal with the consequences of their choices because Real Life Land has no Delete Button, and once it's on the internet it's there for good... just like drunk drivers don't get a reset button, neither do porn stars out to make quick cash sucking huge hairy cocks haha.
No one by the age of 18 gets to cry "I didn't know better..." when the almost 7 Billion of us on this planet ALL can say that by the age of 18.... yes you did. *Shrugs*
(And if she REALLY didn't or really was tricked / a victim of fraudulent info., she could sue the porn industry and win... but obviously this is not the case here)
We can feel bad they made a mistake and it "cost them"... sometimes dearly... but we aren't about to infringe on our own rights and freedoms to stop idiots from being idiots. Mostly because people who are stupid don't listen anyhow even though they do know better... so I just can't agree with the opinion what so ever that 18 yr olds aren't informed / smart enough / mature enough to make the decision of whether or not they wanna suck cock on camera for cash... they know what they're doing... even if they claim they "had no idea...". All the paperwork they HAVE to go over and sign assures that they do know what they're getting into.
Still of the mindset... Leave the Porn Age at 18.
(Article was interesting to read. But ya, do not agree)
