Should The Age Limit For Being In Porn Be Raised?

This is an opinion that my wife has raised and I have come to agree with. We have discussed it with friends who have all had there own opinions, some agreeing some not. The age limit for pornagrphic actors and actresses is at the moment, in most counties 18. Most people we discussed this with agreed that it would be better set at 21. My wife and I both disagree and think 21 is still too young and the minimum should be 25.
what are the options of the people here? And why?

I see much older that 25 in porn which is from Italy. You can always see older participant in Milf and Dilf porn. They should also put more restriction on the body many of these older men I see and many of the younger as well. They have no pecs the abs are non existent the arms should be muscular as well. The scrotum and nuts are important when porn shows crotch shots.(What would porn be without the crotch shots?) The only thing they may have is maybe an 8" penis or possibly longer with a decent girth. So many females have these phony modern medicine breasts. Natural breasts even smaller natural breasts are much easier for me to see. I want to see bodies that are pleasant to see. Some 18YO males have some of the worst looking bodies I see in porn but what gets them hired is their larger than average penis. (Some little skinny dude with a penis that shows well in video and sells) Many 18 YO females in porn look pretty good IMHO. Many / Most females should firm up the stomach.

Everyone has their own opinion, but I disagree. I see no reason to limit the career choice of 18 year olds. I would never advise they go the porn route at 18, but I do not want the government limiting options based on...morality?

Older doesn't sell. Playboy learned this very early on in their sales demographics. The reason is biological.

The average age of a centerfold was 21. This corresponds to the median age when women are most successful at reproduction, i.e. have the lowest incidence of miscarriage, stillbirth, birth defects and infant and maternal mortality. It's important to remember this human reproductive data was collected before the interventions of modern medicine improved outcomes for women.

The peak of the statistical curve is quite broad, age 18-25. Reproductive success drops off outside of those years.

Human males instinctually know this. If you've ever wondered why older men find younger women so attractive this is it. The desire for sex is ultimately the desire of our species to reproduce whether we're conscious of it or not. It's biological instinct. It's the biology of attraction.

If you've ever wondered why so many women work so hard and/or employ cosmetics to look like they're still in their 20's this is it. It gets the most positive response from the male population. Reference JLo (now 50) at the Super Bowl halftime show.

IMO the age limit for porn should not be raised. Adults should be acknowledged and respected as adults.

I disagree, but enjoyed reading your opinion. Thank you for posting them here.
Firstly, in an industry so full of exploitation greater restrictions should be put in place than other lower risk careers.
Secondly, at 18 a persons mind is still developing. This is a career that can lead to a multitude of mental health issues and not something an undeveloped mind should be exposed to. 18 year olds are still very impressionable and entering a world of sex and often drugs could be devastating for them.
And lastly, grown adult men masturbating to teenagers is unhealthy for society. We have a world that leers and pervs over girls and the media and porn industry encourages the sexualisation of girls rather than women. Society needs to move away from the cult of youth culture it has created and stop sexualising teenagers for adult pleasure.

Why ‘Barely Legal’ Porn Is So Dangerous
this is an interesting article I have read on the subject. I know it’s one sided and leans heavily towards my views, but if you would like to read it maybe it can help inform your opinion, which ever way you see the discussion.

Eighteen year-old women are not girls. They're adult women. You denigrate them with your ageist chauvanism. Old enough to vote, old enough to marry, old enough to parent, to work, to start a business, to pursue higher education, to join the military, to die in battle, to own real property, to start retirement accounts, to be recognized/treated as adults by the legal system and to chose whom they love, with whom they have sex and if and when with whom to have children.

Our brains are never "finished."

Naw, keep it the same... The age of 18 is what is recognized both Biologically and Legally as having reached "Maturity & Adulthood".

Regardless of what small groups of people want to think or see changed from a morality point of view it comes down to...

"That's their opinion... this is the other side's opinion.... and then over here these are the facts based in history and science..."

An adult is an adult.... and a human reaches this point at or about the age of 18.
(I say it that way to account for genetics and the possible argument of "Not all people are built and develop at the same speed..."). But beyond that extremely minor argument, 18 is 18 and means "Adult" in the vast majority of the world...

I'm also an advocate of the idea...
"Old enough to fight and die for my country... i should be old enough to do all the other adult activities..."...

If one's life can be "legally" sacrificed on a battlefield... you're an adult... i wouldn't be opposed to drinking age being reduced to 18... even though i hate alcohol and drug use all together. I wish prohibition would've worked hahaha.

But anyway... Unless the human species itself changes and moves away from this biological fact of 18 being the point where one becomes an adult physically and is recognized as such legally (And alllllllll the ramifications in turn that come of changing this...), then this is not going to change for Porn in any way either.

If you even google "Pennsylvania / Texas / California / New York etc. Etc. Age of censent".... you'll probably be even more appalled to find the fact that some states like mine of Pennsylvania have the age of censent set at 16. !!!~ In no way shape or form am i advocating to reduce the porn legal age to reflect a state's age of consent No no and no. Do not take it that way ~!!!

But... it opens the door as an argument against your thoughts on wanting to raise the age limit if one was so inclined as to try and make it in regards to the "reason" or "point" of.... "If i can already Legally engage in sexual activity at age X... why would i want to further restrict my legal right to engage in porn if it's my choice to do so even longer than i already legally have to wait..."

Similar to the arguement of.... if i can fight and die for my country at 18... why do i have to wait until I'm 21 to have a drink...

Different topics... arguments have a "similarity" aspect to them in regards to legal discrepancies....

Overall though... they won't touch the Porn age being 18 so long as people are still considered "Mature Adults" once they turn 18... and I'm fine with it being set at 18.

Bear in mind that these days “appearing in porn” doesn’t usually mean getting hired by a company. Very often, it means taking a picture or video of yourself and uploading it. Would you really tell an 18 year old, or even a 20 year old or a 24 year old, that they are simply not old enough to upload, say, to lpsg? Surely, this revulsion to younger bodies is mostly just a matter of taste?

Barely Legal, Sometimes Mature: Should Porn Raise the Minimum Age to 21?

another interesting article, again following my own views and rather one sided, but non the less offers some very valid points.
I see her point of view... but i have to stand on the "side" that that's just one former porn star's opinion about how she possibly regrets getting into the business because "Now she'll probably be known for nothing else other than being Aurora Snow..."

The two Directors / Agents she mentions who don't like hiring 18 yr. Olds anymore probably have their reasons. But as she even stated in the article... they sure as hell use to hire 18 yr olds in mass before they changed their minds...

Only they could say... "Why".... they truly changed their personal policy. In the article Aurora mentions or eludes to the idea that they told her they did it because they only want to work with "mentally mature" women who have a passion for sex and porn.... what that sounds like to me is (Possibly)....

They've been dealing with a shit ton of crying 18 yr. Old budding porn actresses over the years who were only in it for the money in the sense of...

"Until i can pay off my college student loans / pay my way through college"....

And either by the time the actresses they're calling "not mature enough" reached that point... on the path to "that point".... or shortly after getting hired and doing some work, these chicks realized...

"Wow... maybe sucking cock and taking dicks up my ass for hundreds of dollars a video wasn't really what i wanted to do and be immotalized for in the eyes of my family, friends, and future employers that i WILL have to disclose this to since it IS a job and something that could reflect on my future company due to my being associated with them ...."

And then they up and quit... and said director and porn agency gets to deal with allllll the fall out of it. Both from a relationship with the actress stand point, and indeed the financial stand point.... (This is a business)

They probably just got sick of dealing with the grief, and regret, and of course the loss of a "promising young talent" that they just wasted work hours to build up as the "next big thing" of the genre...

Imagine if Kimmy Granger, Piper Perri, or Kenzie Reeves just up and quit after how enormously HUGE the porn industry beefed up their reputations in the business and genre. Probably thousands if not millions of dollars in videos and advertising would've been wasted on making them the "faces" of the Teen and Barely Legal genres during their "up-swing", as well as the loss of "projected profits to be made" from their staying involved in the industry while they still have their youthful looks...

These hotties turned 18, gained access to being a part of the industry, and then made their own "responsible decision" for themselves...

They as "adults" are Legally accountable only to themselves in the sense of... making sure they are thinking about, and considering the consequences that becoming associated with, or taking part in, mainstream pornography can have on their personal and professional futures / what doors may open or close to them upon making that decision...

In an article i just found while researching Aurora (No clue if it's reputable)...
Aurora Snow Biography

.... apparently she spent a... "Long time".... talking with Elite Veteran Porn Star of the Vivid Agency Jenna Jameson talking porn and the porn industry before making her choice.... And after this long period of talking and discussing it with her.... she agreed to join the industry... and became Aurora Snow...
Shrug.gif

.... a decision she may have come to regret... but if this article holds truth, i dare say she...
"Jumped in with both eyes open..."

I can't see an elite porn star like Jenna Jameson lying to Rebecca or tricking her into joining the industry back then.

Was the money for college a driving force that influenced her decision? Sure.

But... unless shes stupid, she certainly knew full well what being a part of and in Porn Videos could do to her image and reputation in all aspects. And I'm sure Jenna would've told her...

But just because she walked through one of MAAAAAANNNNNY doors that are open to Beautiful Females to make money from... and ended up regretting it... and even if there is a population base that are in the same boat... like my prior post and this one combined can be "heard" saying.

They're 18... they're considered "Mature Adults" in the eyes of the Law, the World, and Science & History. They made their choice as an adult to do what they did, and they have to deal with the consequences of their choices because Real Life Land has no Delete Button, and once it's on the internet it's there for good... just like drunk drivers don't get a reset button, neither do porn stars out to make quick cash sucking huge hairy cocks haha.

No one by the age of 18 gets to cry "I didn't know better..." when the almost 7 Billion of us on this planet ALL can say that by the age of 18.... yes you did. *Shrugs*

(And if she REALLY didn't or really was tricked / a victim of fraudulent info., she could sue the porn industry and win... but obviously this is not the case here)

We can feel bad they made a mistake and it "cost them"... sometimes dearly... but we aren't about to infringe on our own rights and freedoms to stop idiots from being idiots. Mostly because people who are stupid don't listen anyhow even though they do know better... so I just can't agree with the opinion what so ever that 18 yr olds aren't informed / smart enough / mature enough to make the decision of whether or not they wanna suck cock on camera for cash... they know what they're doing... even if they claim they "had no idea...". All the paperwork they HAVE to go over and sign assures that they do know what they're getting into.

Still of the mindset... Leave the Porn Age at 18.o_O

(Article was interesting to read. But ya, do not agree)

A person of the age of 18, and beyond that age, has sexual thoughts and desires peculiar to that individual - being human rights / one's own prerogative. Your ideas above are incompatible with a free society - where the rights and freedoms of 18+ persons should not be arbitrary - but the same. You clearly are anti-porn as well as shown by your beliefs in your post too.

I'm gonna use the ole' "if they can die for their country at 18, then they should be able to fuck for money" argument. I'd personally rather catch an STD then a bullet (which I say in jest because most porn crews are professionals who know how to limit this sort of thing, though it can stilp happen).

Though I will say that the human mind on average takes at least 25 years to full develop the decision making side of the brain, when it comes to other dangerous things one can do when they're 18 (own a firearm for instance), being in porn doesn't seem so bad, at least to me.
