contracts in other areas of life tie you to exclusivity unless you get specific permission.
if you consider a poly relationship as a family unit, as opposed to just a couple, then each member of the unit signs an agreement to accept a new member.
it works in corporate law.

I think they should be legalised simply because the sexual relationships between adults should be nobody elses business than those involved and is pointless having legal obstructions that make criminals out of people for no good reason other than it might upset those who disagree with it on religious grounds.

If it is against your religion then don't get hooked up with more than one, don't fuck goats, don't experiment with your gay side, don't abort your unborn baby, don't relieve your suffering with euthanasia, don't wash your car on a sunday but DON'T stop others from having their freedom.

For all those who say legalizing poly relationships is just about wealthy men wanting a harem, I'd like to point out that I know of several MFM and MMF triads. Most of the triads I know have been together for years and intend to stay together for longer.

I admittedly don't know a whole lot about this, but it seems that throughout history there has been a strong link between polygamy and decreased womens rights/respect for women. I think there might be a bit of danger in allowing polygamy because of this.
