I just found out that a colleague of mine from work has an Instagram account where he cooks, shows off his muscles, and gets as near naked as the platform allowed. It got locked down after students and a few faculty members discovered it.

Kudos to my colleague's build and sexual ethos. Good for him.

I have similar interests, but I think discretion and plausible deniability are more important for my workplace sanity than showing my face and dick in a photo on here.

For the record, I'm out about a lot of things in my life including my sexual orientation. I just think there's a time and a place for my face and dick to be visible together. Like a bedroom, a urinal for a moment or two.

Nope, not comparable.

To show ones face on here is to admit that you enjoy a sexually charged environment, and that brings people shame.

To share the details you list above is to open myself up to financial fraud.

Good try, but no.

Just give me that information, I won't do anything bad that you don't want done with it.

The point is not about what you perceive potential damage to be, its about keeping private what you want to keep private. Some people would be risking their jobs by posting pictures with their face, I would argue that that could be more damaging financially than fraud or stolen identity. Some people, if found exposing themselves on the internet at a site like this, might lose friends and family over it which is very damaging on a different and maybe more severe level.

The point is that you can keep private what you want to keep private and its ridiculous not to expect others to do the same.

Once we show ourselves in a certain light it gives people the excuse to latch onto that image forever, regardless of all the other things we amount to

The people that go out to public events like Folsom, Burning Man, or the Naked Bike Rides, never a shortage of pictures taken of dudes doing whatever publically naked. People don't even care that facial recognition software is being implemented in every cameras connected to internet.

There's a guy that goes to my gym who's picture I've seen online at some event pulling his dick out, showing it off to the crowd, looked like fun. I wonder if he thinks about the many people who've seen him in that moment, if he cares. One thing I've learned about people is that we type cast. It's easier to label him as irresponsible, or a degenerate than to think about him going to work for the government or owning his own business. Trying to drill down to one word descriptions that can be easily given. Nudist, exhibitionist, promiscuous.

Like so many have stated, I don't want the actions in my private life to hurt my career. Maybe in another life I'll walk around naked and have sex with anyone I want without risk of facial recognition software everywhere, shame or disease but that's not the life I live.

I agree that the US is most certainly uptight, the article you put from the NYT was interesting.
The negative terms used here are part of the problem. "Uptight" and "prudish", for example.

I'm a nudist. While I love to be naked, I fully respect that many others don't, and don't refer to them in pejorative terms. I'm not evangelical about it either...if you want to be naked, go for it. If you ask me how or where, I'm happy to give info, but pushy, shaming behavior? Absolutely not.

If we are to be accepting of diversity, those with conservative values must be included among everyone, and shouldn't be mocked by the derogatory use of terms, or pressured to be like anyone else.

Ok, that’s fair. Trying to be nice to everyone.
There is though a different culture of whats acceptable here in the states. Maybe I’m wrong...

Obviously you have an attitude of acceptance towards everybody, which is important if everybody wants to get along in life and that’s great.

My issue is this: some of those same people that you’re defending would judge you as a pervert and a scum bag for being how you are and What makes you happy. Just sayin’.

My point to the OP is that he claims a worldly stance, yet has no respect for the world he's seen. As you state, there are people who have far more conservative value than you, I or the OP. Calling them "prudes" and "uptight" shows no respect or acceptance for a large group of people with a different point of view than ours.

The irony is that a desire for privacy and a liberal social lifestyle are not mutually exclusive. I don't flaunt my nudism, my politics or my sex life. As there is no upside to increasing my internet presence, I have no desire to add photos of myself to it.

I respect everybody who decided not to show face. What I do is stupid. But I like my photos with face more than the others.

Family, community and other larger than life factors play a role in "showing your face". Sometimes there are many things to consider. Whether considered or not, sometimes people can be badly hurt. This doesn't apply to all, but for some it's a very real thing.

"What are you afraid of" is a broad generalization.

As I've said many times my "avatar" is not me, just an image I like.

For me, I am not ashamed or embarrassed for anyone to see me naked (maybe it's the cock...), but I'm a teacher, and there could be really bad consequences if students or parents found naked pictures of me, especially if they were sexual. For this reason, I would only private message a face pic, not post publicly. I'd love to be able to show my face on here without fear, though.

In general, this is one of the biggest downsides to being a teacher. I do have to censor myself to a degree to remain a respected professional and not compromise my ability to work with children. It's a shame teachers can't just do what they want as an adult like most adults. I would totally do porn if it weren't for this.

I, personally, don't care who sees my face, dick, ass or whatever. I've never liked myself, but i have what I have and it's there, I'm not gonna waste energy hiding.
Also I use it as some kind of "attack as an strong defense" kind of thing. If I put myself, every bit of me, out there, there's no more room for disappointment; what you see is what you get. So if people still like me, it's on them :p

Here's me for thos interested:

That was an incredibly honest response. I’ve had similar feelings myself, and it’s easier to admit it here rather than anywhere else.

Yea, I have had someone I know personally tell me they saw my profile on here. No prob... Every now and then I will do a little cam show but not so much lately as I have some 'shelter in place' padding due to lack of exercise.

I do 'get it' when people in certain jobs really would not want to show their face and cock in the same picture. No need to be dismissed from a job because of something like that.

We're all here for the same reason. View attachment 1401687
To be honest, for me it’s the fact that anyone can look on this forum and especially in recent years the site has become very well knows for the various reasons. The fact that anyone can find my nudes so easily is why I don’t put my face on here.
