da bliss, you're family's long distance phone bill must be larger than the annual budgets of California and New York combined! :D

Yowsers: basically, an only child, however i have 3 1/2 bros from my dad's previous marriage, much older than i am. And they all live far, far, away.

Of course, i have tons of extended family around the world from the Phillipines to Saudi Arabia to L.A.
Define "sibling". (If you spoke Lakota, you'd understand why.)
jon, I just looked at an explanation of the Lakota Father/Mother descendant thing and it gave me a super headache.

I think there's a country song about it. "I Am My Own Grandpa."

:D

ThighSlapper: I was an only child til I was 15, then Pop's ol' lady had my little brother. He's real cool. Caught me on this board a few times. He's almost 17, so I told him he's gotta wait a year before posting.

Little bastard's hung like a mule.

Why? There's no lower age limit at LPSG, and with his endowment he likely has some thoughts on the subject. I'm sure we'd welcome his imput.

Okay, well let's say I have a child. Said child would also be my brothers' child, and the mother's sisters' child. In the same vein, my father's brothers are also my fathers, and my mother's sisters are also my mothers. And so my father's brothers' children and my mother's sisters' children are also my siblings. And why not? You can only reproduce half your genes at once.

All in all, under these rules, I have fifty-nine siblings - thirty-two brothers and twenty-seven sisters. But in English terms, it cuts down to eight - three brothers (not including myself), and six sisters.

@Pecker:
You might be your own grandpa, but whether you're a mother or you're a brother you're stayin' alive.

da_blissmachine: I deffinately think family is important... no matter how you define it. we also have ceremonies somewhat like a marriage whereby someoen can adopt someone as a sibling.

aj2181: Geez is Jackinman and I the only two with a really close bond to our siblings? I would have thought that it was more common to be closer. Apparrently i was mistaken.
