Hmmm...I was in a nasty and ornery mood when I made this thread. Wining and dining wasn't exactly on my mind. I would think that would fit with this thread:

"Signs that a relationship has a good future?"

Wining and dining are Necessary to good in bed. Food is where energy comes from. You get what you give. Duh.

Oh, so that makes it okay?

Maybe we have different definitions of slut? I don't necessarily see anything wrong with identifying some women as sluts, if the shoe fits. Just like you have dickheads, assholes, bitches, and morons, you also have sluts. No? I realize those other examples have nothing to do with sexual promiscuity but, from my perspective, they all categorize people based on their actions and are comparably insulting, although slut may be more insulting to some people. You seem to have a different perspective?

And I don't know anything about the OP so I won't say definitively what perspective he's coming from. I'm basing my responses solely on what I've seen posted in this thread. None of it seemed particularly out of line, except for the snarky responses to and from other posters. Is there some history I'm missing?

lil paraphrasing here...

“Slut is an noun used to describe a woman who has the sexual morals of a man.”

slut is like - queer, dyke, faggot or n*gger; unless you are a member of the minority class choosing to use those terms will automatically carry derogatory connotations. when i identify with slut it's reclaiming the word and empowering, when OCMG uses slut it's proof positive he hasn't touch a vagina since birth. :biggrin1:

the OP watches too much porn. there is a difference between sex positive interaction and spewing out the same degradation of women straight porn has normalized.

eta: epic fucktardery to shame promiscuity on a adult site

She'll have a sign over her bed that reads: only 2 at a time.

Hmm. I thought queer was an accepted term. Dyke I'm not positive about, and the other two are almost always derogatory. I didn't think slut was up there with those terms though. Of course, I'm also not a woman so my sensitivity to it is way off.

To be clear, are the objections to the topic more objections to the person who started the thread, or objections to the actual topic? Because the topic still seems interesting to me.

IMPO slut can be rather derogatory.....totally depends on individual delivering said word. just as my dear ML said, bolded for truth:

Hahaha. Hence, the almost!

With regard to the topic, what about really loosey-goosey hips? You know how some women just have a lot of movement in their hips when they walk? I know sometimes this is purposeful, but I've seen it where it looks like a structural issue, as if that's just how everything fits together when she moves. I always wondered about that. The movement is mesmorizing. Anybody noticed any trends with women who had hips like this?

Here's a clear sign

But is that a woman it's pointing to? Nope. Loosey-goosey hips will avail him nothing. :p He'll still be male.

One needs to move hips in order not to bob one's head side to side while walking , the so-called 'sailor's roll'. I for one cannot help moving my hips because they are a large percentage of my body, and lack of flexibility in the hips results in many strange gaits, especially when combined with lordosis.

Hip flexibility is only beneficial for some sexual positions, not all of them across the board.

The word slut is generally used as a gender specific slur, and thus shows a complete lack of respect for women as sexual beings.

The topic itself wouldn't have bothered me (in fact, I would have contributed) if the OP had been more respectful.

So is there never a case where a woman would be accurately categorized as a slut? I thought the term was both gender AND characteristic/behavior dependent, such that all sluts are women, but not all women are sluts. From that perspective, calling some women sluts doesn't insult or disrespect all women, because it doesn't refer to all women. Is this not the case?

I know plenty of women who call other women sluts - how does that fit in? Women aren't generally called bastards - does that mean that those women using the term are all sexist reactionaries?

Cocksucker & motherf*cker are only really applicable to men.

I do understand your concern, but then again F*ck & C*nt used to be the operative words in the past. Each generation makes words highly charged, & it doesn't help that people self identify with them.

Sex often needs frisson. If a law came in requiring polite language during coitus, I think a lot of people would go off it quickly.

And you strike me as a slut.

The fact that you used the word to attack her proves that you aren't using it in a sex positive way, so don't even bother to go there.

you really are dense if you believe the less than joyous reception of your thread is in anyway based on your orientation or ya lack of massive prong.

If he had been more sex positive and oozing with love for the ladies, like MickeyLee's wonderful first post, then this thread would be completely different, but instead he had to bring the conversation down by using language that makes it clear that he's hateful towards some of the women he wants to fuck, and that just spreads all sorts of icky feelings around.

More insight into the OP's mindset revealed here:
Sheepish about this site?

Oh jeez, the issues this guy has! That's just not attractive.

This is how I feel feel. This totally could have been a cool thread, if he hadn't been such a jerk.

Duh, it's also wrong when a women slut shames another woman, not just when men do it. If I attacked another woman by calling her slutty, my intention is to diminish her using perceived promiscuity against her, which would be a sexist move on my part since women don't attack men the same way. You seem to think by pointing out that a woman may have ever done it that it invalidates it as "wrong" somehow, which doesn't make a lick of sense. It isn't wrong because of the gender of the person doing the attacking, it's wrong because a person's value isn't determined by how many sexual partners that person has had and it's sexist because implying that a person is a less valuable human being because of how much sex she has had is a rule that is only applied to women, regardless of the gender of the accuser.

I'm going to read this whole thread all the way through before I make any real comments on the question posed in the opening post and what the discussion has morphed into... However I have been in the company of men who discuss issues like neanderthals; I have also been in the company of woman who discuss issues like catty bitches. I've found it's possible to maintain a comfortable decorum for all parties at the table with some finesse and diplomacy. I'll discuss further once I've read the whole thread.
