That’s kind of intellectually dishonest. Being ginger has nothing to do with sexuality or sexual urges. Also it wouldn’t have spoken to his point about methods for cures and repression because that was never done to gingers.
That being said his comparison was also dishonest. There can be no comparison between pedophilia and any other sexuality because consent can’t be given from children. Also given what he claims to now know about the subject he should have also known how dangerous it is to compare the two groups given that part of the media has been trying to convince people we’re the same for decades now.

He isn't saying gays are pedophiles he is saying they have no where to turn and even none-offenders should be given help to treat their urges.

I don't think his intention was to be homophobic but his comparing homosexuality and pedophilia (even though he wasn't directly linking the two) was just STUPID given that for decades the religious-right has often linked the two together. I am more concerned about his comments regarding the NBA and women in sports. And I find it hard buying the "stupid things we've said in the past argument" because these comments were allegedly only made five years ago when he was 27 ... hardly a stupid thing we said in our youth. I am not into this whole "cancel culture" thing and will wait to hear more from him directly, but I do wonder if the reaction would be so "give him the benefit of the doubt" if he were a straight white man.
