Don't know what the hell i've done to my hand. Might have fractured my hand. When my hand is lay flat there is a pain when pressure is applied (lifting boxes or in the push up position. ) Any draw backs to push ups using fists for the short term?

I used to go to the gym, but it started to get very expensive. With the demands from work (60 hours a week including travelling) and home demands i'm to tired to go to the gym untill quite late. The other thing is the cost of the gym 35 a month is to steep for me. There is a local gym that charges per visit or per week (a bit like average joes in dodge ball) and i will go to the gym as and when i can. But not often enough to make it part of my routine. But even them i can't do any major weights because i don't have anyone to go with.

If that's the case man, research Tabata intervals. Best workouts I have!

If i started to do it every other day i'd get out of the habit of doing it. I'm a bugger for letting things slip.

Add to your assortment of exercises so that you can work one batch of muscles one day and another the next. Back & bi's one day, chest & tri's the other day -- basically, all pulling exercises the first day, then all pushing exercises the next day. Stick some ab stuff in there each day, too. Do just abs the third day (the P90X "Ab Ripper X" workout is a killer 15 minutes), then repeat the three-day cycle, and take the seventh day off.

Depending on your commute, you could bike to & from work, too. Frequent bike commuters have canceled their gym memberships in some cases because they get plenty of exercise. If you're already driving an hour each way, though, it could get kinda rough via bike.

Even the P90X guy is selling a new set of videos that appear to be Tabata-based. His normal P90X routines are about an hour long, but these are very quick ten- or fifteen-minute sessions including warmup and cool down.

I'd say to just search for "tabata" on Youtube and do what they do. It's four minutes of death, but at the same time, it's pretty self-paced so you're not really gonna kill yourself.

The problem with the shouting and bawling approach is i respond badly to anger. Think along the lines of "you wouldn't like me when i'm angry" then i start smashing through walls and play sad music as i hitch hike down the road as the credits roll. Anyway.

mate, the man that would have said that to you was what that big green shortbus bitch was hitch hiking to get away from. the dudes kicked out of war for unnecessary roughness are the ones they make D.I's, those are not men you even look at wrong. my drill sergeant in boot is STILL just a boot camp training officer, and almost 10 years and after all my highs and lows i am a young (sort of) healthy green beret..... that man and my mama both need only scream my name, and i get a shock that starts at the base of my skull and settles right above the crack of my ass.....

just keep grinding em out and at the rate you're going it's gonna be a while but you'll start to see some results.... then you wanna work on that diet.

. Not for nothing axlx2009, but Oldham_Tightly is British, those men are known to be a bit . . .doughy.

Ever heard of the S.A.S....... pretty much some of the toughest (ugliest) men alive. they do artic weather training, these guys are tanks..... tanks with shitty equipment and ugly outfits, but tanks

You can do it, O_T. Hell, I;m almost 40 and manage 100 situps, pushups & hindu squats a day, plus I run a mile almost every day. It's the key to looking and feeling good when you get older, I promise ya! Also, your diet may be affecting your ability to workout to your best potential...

Just curious, what are your goals? General fitness, bodybuilding or what?

I commend you on your efforts, O_T. I used to smoke a pack a day, drink at least a six pack a day and abuse my body with the foods that I ate (lots of processed/fast foods, red meat, etc.) I can recall a breakfast of cigarettes, beer and pork rinds once, lol! My point is that if I can do it, anyone can...Keep up the good work!
