I've got a question regarding the size of the penis and how hard it gets. In my limited experience (slept with five guys), the four guys that were average in size got really hard when erect and for the most part their erections pointed straight out or curved up. My husband is very large and doesn't really get that hard. He gets stiff but can still bend quite a bit. For example, when he enters me he has to use one hand to guide the head in and the other at the base of his penis to keep it from bending too much. He also has to hold the base of his penis if he is doing long strokes. The only time that he gets pretty hard (and a little thicker) is just before he orgasms. In addition, his penis pretty much points down when he is "erect". Since he is the only big guy I've ever been with, I was wondering if this was unique to him, is common with many guys, or is common with having a very large penis.

As a straight guy, I can only speak for and about my own experience. You may get a wider ranging experience from other women or the gay guys on the site.
As far as not getting hard, I stay pretty bendable until just after reaching full length then I stiffen and I do get rock hard. While I am hard I can still be moved around but only at the base. Like your husband I also point down all the time unless physically raised and the angle change happens at the base.
Has this always been the situation with your husband? If so he may not know any different and so it might be something to be checked out by a physician. I have always had a good rapport with my doctor and being checked out would be a smart first step rather than experimenting.

It depends on the guy. Age, health, physical fitness all play a role. Does he have high blood pressure? Some men with long penises do have problems with rigidity and have to 'feed in the hose' as it were. Not all large penises have that problem even though it is normal.

Don't forget that length, girth, rigidity change in the same guy every time he gets erect. I've had sex when I had to stuff it in semi-erect inch at a time while other encounters I've been fully erect. Does he let himself go and completely get into the moment, or has he like many large men had enough bad encounters that he keeps himself at a lower state of arousal. I'm not completely sure how to explain that, but I'm sure others here understand as a guy not letting yourself get fully aroused/erect (and not just to keep from losing it early).

Thanks for the comments guys! Sounds like there are other big guys who have a similar situation. In regards to whether this is something new...no. He is 52 and it has been this way ever since we started having sex when he was 29 and was that way before we met. He is a big guy physically and stays in pretty good shape. I think all of his vital stats (blood pressure, cholesterol etc) are fine since he gets a regular physical with no issues. In regards to bad encounters...he had a few prior to us, however that was 23 years ago and our sex has been pretty frequent and awesome. So I don't think it is a question of him getting "into it", LOL! He does point down from the base...he is pretty much straight otherwise.
