I was wondering if i'd have to be completely naked for this? Do they check the scrotum and penis? Underneath the penis? I'm curious to know how much detail is spent...

anybody have any experiences with this? I'm going in 3 weeks and want to be prepared. What exactly is it like?

thanks. I'll update this also with my experience

I've rotated with dermatologists through my medical training and have seen some of the mole checks...it's done discreetly, but yes they do try to look at everything. most Derm offices have notices at the front saying something to the effect of "you will be asked to disrobe so your entire skin can be examined." it's not like they'll strip you down completely...you'll have a gown and they'll look at one part at a time...genitals tend to be quick and there's not much touching, but if you KNOW you have a concerning area, make sure you point it out so they can give it the attention it merits. It's really relatively painless all things considered and done in a matter of minutes. They do this so often it doesn't take them much of a glance to decide if it's worrisome or not. hope that helps...

I've had LOTS of experience at dermatologist offices and at least a dozen skin cancer surgeries (none melanoma, thank god). At best the three docs I've seen peek at my butt (in the paper gown but still wearing underwear) assuming I can't see moles or something there by myself, but leave the frontal area alone. I don't have any moles, however, to keep an eye on.

Unless you are suntanning nude I don't see a reason why you should be naked. I have been to the derm a couple of times because I am out in the sun a lot and they ask if you want a full body search or something different. I just go shirtless/boxers. I don't see any reason for them to check my ass or my balls

One of my best friends went to a dermatologist for a full body screening.. My friend got an erection and the dermatologist kept making comments and eventually whipped his out as well and they started 69ing on the office floor. My friend says now every time he goes to the dermatologist they either suck each other off or at least jerk off together. So fucking hot.

^^^ Well...., back to the OP's question. The dermatologist is a professional who's job it is to look at your skin. You can show as much of your skin to them as you feel comfortable doing. It'd be in your best interest to let them do a full exam, but you certainly don't have to.

I go every 6 months for full screening because I have had melanoma twice, and possibly 3 times, and have atypical nevis syndrome as well. I have been to several different dermatologists, and each has done a full inspection on my first visit with them. One doctor spent 45 minutes looking me over. I've had another who took 45 seconds. Curiously, the most through was a woman.

I have a female doctor. I ususally like a male doc but whatever. I go once a year. The gal says strip to nothing and lay the paper over your groin. I wear short square cuts and just leave them on and forget the paper towel thing. The reason...I just feel it is more polite. Then I lay on this table and the doc checks my skin. She pulls areas of the shorts down and I always say I am comfortable...do whatever

I go to a male dermatologist. I strip naked, and he looks every where. I'm not circumcised, so he looked at the outer surface if my penis. The he retracted the foreskin, and looked at both the inner foreskin and the shaft skin. He did a thorough exam of every part if my genitals and anus.

The whole reason I go is for him or his PA to look at EVERY part of my skin, and not to tell him what's off limits. I'm not very modest and have no problem being naked in a doctor's office.

The first time I went, the PA said to take off as much as I was comfortable with. There was a "gown" there was a square of paper, on the exam chair. I said, If it's all right with you, I'll just get naked. No problem.

You asked about going to a doctor, for a screening. Why would you refuse him/her access to everything that is to be screened?

Your question makes no logical sense.

lilguy, a full body exam usually means full body. i go once every 6 months. they ask me to put on the paper gown but i prefer to just strip to my boxers and wait.

when the dr comes in he looks at everything and then asks me to lower my boxers to check my backside/groin/cock and balls. i prefer to have every area inspected if i'm going to make the effort.

no big deal. enjoy yourself.

My dermatologist's assistant always asks me to strip to my underwear then leaves. When the doctor comes in, he examines all visible areas and then moves the underwear around to check the sides and back and pulls the waistband forward to check the front without uncovering it. When I essentially stopped wearing underwear and reduced my supply, I kept one pair just for the dermatologist. After my most recent check up in June, I decided to get rid or the last pair and be completely underwear free. Now I am having second thoughts and considering buying one pair before my next appointment in December.

As a two-time melanoma survivor, I have head-to-toe exams with my dermatologist every 3 months. I'm always asked if I want a gown, but opt for staying in my underwear (she's seen it all, anyway). My exam is thorough (she finger-parts my hair, looks through my beard, under my tongue -- every nook and cranny). When it's time, she has me face away from her, slides my underwear down, spreads my cheeks and checks for any suspicious moles or irregularly-shaped spots. Then I'm asked to turn around, and she does a visual inspection of my balls and penis. All throughout the exam we're having a discussion, so it doesn't seem as intrusive as it might. When you're talking survival and early detection, it's best to be prepared to have it all examined. Keep up with the regular check-ups with your dermatologist!

A friend of mine has a sister who is a dermatologist, all mine friend says that her sister says is that it's pretty disgusting how men come in with tidy whiteys and they are dirty or have skid marks. Guys, clean up before you get checked, and put on new grundies.

My experiences are like MarcusNCal. I do a whole body screening every year with a female doctor. I strip to underwear for most of the exam and then it goes to ankles for the mid-section screening. The most uncomfortable part is that usually the doctor has an assistant taking notes and marking a chart. Usually, the assistant is female. Once, it was a young guy and my gaydar went off the minute I met him. That made that once extra uncomfortable.
